Default Push Button Ignition

I know these are probably just peices of junk, but how easy are they to install and how do they actually work? They also seem incredibly ricy but I still like the concept. Any ideas?

Pretty easy IMO, and they work fine. Of course you still need to put the key in and turn it first.

I have one installed and I love it... oddly enough it actually seems to make the car turn over faster than cranking it the old fashioned way with the key

Install wasn`t bad, took maybe a half hour.

I had the Zerosports push button starter. It was a cool little gadget, but it sucked in cold weather. My WRX sucks in cold weather starts as it is w/ the key, and w/ the button it was worse. I had to hold the button down for a few seconds, and the engine skipped and I threw a CEL. It was the Crank Position sensor. I took the button out, took it to the dealer, and they had to send the computer out to get reprogramed. Luckily, it was still under warranty. I would think twice before getting this. It looks cool though...

i added an ignited push button start on my WRX and it was pretty simple to add. I put it where my cigarette light was and you just have to tap into the ignition wire and use a 12v power source to tap into as well. Took about 30 minutes to install like someone said above.

Thanks guys. Going to school in Miami and living in Texas, I dont really have any cold weather to speak of to worry about. Other than that, a pic or two would be awsome.

Read THIS LINK for a little more information on the subject. I did the "write-up" toward the end of the thread and its about as detailed on the subject as I've seen. Mine works flawlessly. If you like the look it's a pretty slick mod. As for it being rice, I don't think that applies anymore. S2000, Z8, new Lexus GS, etc... all come with push-button ignition. None are cheap, or rice.

I installed mine last summer. Wiring was a bit more involved than what others say here. It's not just tapping wires here and there. It's actually a necessity to use an auto relay for this.

Anyway, here's mine...w/custom carbon fiber plate!

Looks good. And yes a relay is almost always a requirement for any simple switch to be used.
