PWN3D WRX or Eagle Talon?

Well I have an '04 WRX with a few mods including: full exhaust, BOV,

intake....and I am wondering if with just these simple mods if I could beat a 1990

Eagle Talon....the mods on the Talon are full exhaust and maybe one other

power mod.....not sure sorry.

If you don't know what mods are on the talon, then you can't really get an accurate answer. 1G talons can do 11's. Also, a 1G talon capable of 11's can do 13's with a poor driver.

fwiw, I had a 95 TSi AWD with just a boost controller and the 'free mods' (there are chaap upgrades in the DSM world) and I ran a 14.2. With my 02 WRX and just a boost controller I ran a 14.2. So, to answer your question, who knows.

the talon has a boost controller and exhaust. thats all.

Sounds like it would be a really close race then...

Depends on the condition of the talon. It's 15 years old! But, like I said, they are very cheap to make fast. Talon drivers also have their own deifintion of 'stock', so beware. But, post and let us know how it turns out. Take it to the track. No race is worth the possible consequences. Besides, then he can't say "You cheated"!

....I'd stack the deck by buying some toluene....put 2 gallons in the tank when it's ~1/4...fill it...drive it down to ~1/4, add 2 more and fill it.....re-set the ECU(do the Vishnu re-set) and race at a bit over 1/4 tank....and put the stock by-pass valve back on.

If it's a TSi AWD, you won't have the traction advantage.

It should be close enough that a driver could make a difference.

If the Talon is AWD too, then racing from "a dig" won't help. If it's a fwd, then make your race as short as possible. The lighter weight of a FWD talon makes them about equal in the 1/4.

Tell him you'll race him 100 miles, it's bound to not make it that far.

Knowing Talons, it'll probably break down in less than 100 miles...

Takes a big man to admit that.

There seems to be a certain similarity in the mentality of Subaru and DSM (Talon/Eclipse) owners that doesn't seem to be present in a lot of other groups. Maybe it's a maturity thing. Obviously that is a stereo-type and not applicable to everyone.

take out your spare/jack, remove front subframe and bumper beam. Use the tuolene like someone said, turn the boost up to 17lbs. If he's on the stock turbo you should not have any problem at that point. Btw, you shouldn't have to remove all that stuff, but if you wanted to absolutely insure a win.

Unabomber wants a dicussion forum with no dicussions.

FWIW my 2g talon went 14.34@98 with only a K&N cone filter and the BOV silencer removed.

It will be a close race, but considering what I have seen 04's run with your mods in the 1/4 you will lose if he can drive.

Just for reference, I have had a 91 Eclipse GSX and 91 Talon TSI AWD. On my Eclipse, I had a boost controller adj to 19psi and the flex pipe broke off the stock exhaust and I was able to run a 13.9. My Talon fully built ran low 11's (fully built = $5k in mods)

They may be old, but if the trans is good and he has those mods you will likely lose.
