Default funny thing happened in the Wendy's drive through..

So, I just finish ordering two Number 6 combos (muumm.. spicy chicken..) when I hear: "Hey, hey you"

I turn around and look out my window and the guy behind me in a Civic hatchback is yelling at me. He says: "Does that car fly or what?"

I kind of look at him weird and say:
me: No not really
Him: really, it doesn't have alot of horsepower?
Me: well, it has 165hp, and it's alright
him: I have been reading alot about it.
me: It's not a WRX, this is an RS, and is two years old
him: O

I drive up to pick my food up thinking mean thoughts on how much I hate all you WRX owners

So, I get my food and pull up. I have a change of heart, and as he is getting his food I run up and hand him a spotted car. I tell him if he would like to read more about the car, to check out this site, it is the NESIC site. He thanks me alot (stunned I am being nice to him I think), and gives me a big wave as I drive off.

I guess I am just a great NESIC member after all. Sigh..
We are all brothers, (cocky mode on) as long as I keep scoring better than some WRX's at the autocross events. (Cocky mode off)

Hmph..that's weird... I've been to three hillclimbs in the past few months and I've only seen one WRX actually run the hill..... Are they that much slower than an RS when it comes to anything with corners or an uphill slope that no one wants to come play??

The bait is out in the open.... the 11th and 12th of August is the next hillclimb at Burke mountain.... Both Wayne and I willl be running... anyone else willing to bring one of those shiny lookin funky headlight things is more than welcome to come make me eat my words.

(end cockiness)

Hey, Mark, I'm very interested in the driving up the mountain thing you guys did. But I don't trust my driving yet... It's one thing driving off a track, and another thing hitting some trees and rolling down the mountain. Maybe next year, when I feel more comfortable in the car, and improve my techniques.

Actually, I'm really not supposed to say this because all the Rex owners had to take a double secret oath, but we're not supposed to embarass you RS guys with serious ass kicking. That's all.

Serious ass kicking?? HA! ahem.... I do believe it was a 2.5 RS-T that hit 13.5 in the quarter mile here in Epping..... I'm sorry.. what have the WRX's been running??

Longshot: The dirty analysis works. I haven't even seen joe z out on his favorite dort roads lately.

scoobyruman: We still on for this friday?? Oh, and the next hillclimb is the second weekend in august... is that enough notice for you to get some time off from work?

Hey, I've been to two auto-x's the last two weeks and I haven't seen you at either. Are you tired of getting beat by WRX's?

I'll be glad to run a hill climb, but haven't had time. Plus, I also need a SA rated helmet.

Korey, I asked 3 RS owners this past weekend if they were gonna run a rally-x, and all three looked at me in shock. So, what does that say for RS owners.

Don't forget the RS has been out for how many years, now. The WRX has only been here for 4 months. We're still working on it. Plus, tomorrow is Wednesday, so we'll see about that. And that particular RS you mentioned, it's screaming in pain, especially from the rear diff.

But, if you really want to compare timeslips, Imprezer ran in the 12's.

Paul,

I went to that Wendy's last night at 12:30a (just got out from G3 concert), anyway,

I have this Chevy Malibu in front of me with two punk ass kids in it, the thing actually has an exhaust tip, and chrome wheel covers!! Now as some of you know i have HID's. These kids got out of the car (Brendan has weapon ready) and stood there for at least 4 seconds and stared at my lights. They didn't say a word to me, didn't even look at me. Looked at my lights and got back in the car. That's a first!

At the end of the day when the races are over, the RS will stil be better looking, covered in mud or sparkling clean. So I will continue to proudly drive my RS and the fact that it's turbo and can beat most WRXs makes it that much sweeter.

Yes, folks, he is from Southie. So, if you see an RS with HID's, stay away.

So Josh, do you tell this to all your customers?

Not with you driving.

Edit: Josh, I'm just teasing you.

Default Oh well

Well I will be at the drag stip tomorrow to prove my RS-T superiority once again but this time with much lower numbers and a slightly more expericanced driver. But your right about with me driving at the autocross I sucked. But I know if it had not rained I would have done a hell of alot better second round. Since I could now see the course in my mind after watching the other cars go through as a course marshal. As to telling my cutomers if my car looks better I do if they mention it first . If not then I just kind of nod my head when they say how sweet the WRX looks.

I've never been beaten by "WRX ownerS" just strictly one WRX owner. However he was just as far ahead of me when he had his RS so I honestly can't give the car all the credit..... ahem... KC.. ahem.....

If it's just the helmet that's keeping you from running Pete you can always run in the second run group and borrow mine.

I finished .2 seconds (I think) behind KC at NHIS this weekend, and he was on R-compunds, me RE-730's. I also finished .3 seconds ahead of webkris (on SP5000's). The key here is,
Keith can be fast every weekend. If I go to the next SCCA event, I'll probably suck ass..

But, comparing the cars at an autocross, I would have to say the RS is a better choice. That is just how I feel.

Default Same Experience

I had the same experience about a week ago. I was not a club member at the time seeing im a newbie. Well We were driving down the road and I commented at this Punk kid...not that im not a punk kid hehe...who was driving a Civic Si. I commented to my bud at how much I hated civics. As if the kid driving the Civic knew what I was saying he looked at me while passing and gave me a wierd look. We entered the Wendys parking lot and he turned his lawnmower around, entered the parking lot and pulled next to my car. I was ready to get the beating of my life or at least a huge mouthful about how "fast " they are. Instead he rolls his window down as we get out of our car to go get some grub and comment on how hes never seenb a Legacy GT up close before. And how sweet it is. I thanked him and we talked about the car for awhile. He actually hated his car and wanted to get an RS or a GT but was having problems finding either of them. I just sent him to a local Subaru dealership. I just found it amazing how many people are amazed at the looks of these cars. Just wish mine had a lil more power.

Thumbs down Boo hoo

Man I hate these WRX vs RS threads!!
Everyone likes to justify that they have the best car. That they made the right choice. Blah blah blah...

The <=2001 RS and the WRX are both awesome cars and both are better at certain things. Most people lack the experience in both cars that make these comments about which car is better. And I hate to say it but it is always a RS owner that starts these versus threads. What does that say about how you feel about your car if you always have to go around saying how much better it is.

Its not like WRX owners have been going around saying that our cars are better than RSes! I haven't met a WRX owner that's looked down on RSes yet. (Well maybe the 2002 RS cause we KNOW the WRX should be better than that one ). Its too early to tell whether the 2001 RS or WRX will dominate more on the track and road.

As far as a stock car with a warranty though? Would you really take a 2001 RS over a 2002 WRX? I'd bet money that most people would take the WRX. As for tuning the car aftermarket, that chapter has yet to be fully written for the 2002 WRX. So lets just quit these discussions. Only people who have owned both, or lived with both for an extended period of time really are going to be the non subjective ones. And the WRX has been here so short a time even people who got their WRXs in March are just getting to know their cars now! So if you're not one of those people I wish you'd keep your mouth shut on the subject!

Can't we all just get along?

Default All in fun

I think you are taking this kind of post the wrong way. It's just people goofing around. It's kind of like: are to, are not, are to, are not. Or I have super powers to the thousandth power, yeah well I have it to infinity power, yeah well 10X infinity. Hey there is nothing greater than infinity. Or my favorite I bet my dad can beat up your dad. Can not, can to, can not. There is always going to be Vs. for the two cars, but I know all the threads I have read are all good natured.

Default Amen!!!

Fitz, if I can run only on the 12th, I'll go. But, I have plans on the 11th. It's not just the helmet thing. It's the timing thing(got to be able to fit it in the schedule). This is new to me, and I haven't heard much about it, plus it's not on KC's calendar. You're one of the first people to really encourage others to do it. Just got to plan ahead, ya know.

Oh, BTW, what are the costs?

And looking at my calendar, I have the following dates open:
8/12
9/1 & 9/2
9/8
9/29

If there are any events on those days, I'll schedule it in now.

Paul: I agree with you that the RS should be a better car to autocross on, if one were to only autocross. Lag sucks. But, I don't plan on just auto-xing. I plan on doing track events, rallies, and hill climbs, or whatever.

Default HEY!

Wadaya mean us WRX owners don't like to get our cars dirty! It took me over an hour to clean after this. I will see YOU at the Rally Cross.

A big THANK YOU to Subie Gal for the second picture.

Default Oh Yeah.

I also forgot to mention that I agree with Paul as well. I think my RS is a much better autocrosser. I equaled Pauls time in my WRX, but I know I could have done better in the RS. It was unable to make it due to not feeling well. I was stuck driving the pigish WRX.
