I'm happy knowing that I'm a staunch Republican who drives a Subaru. I'll bet it blows some peoples' minds.

You're not a "Staunch Republican", you're just a Republican because your parents are.

I guess....

I was raised with Republican beliefs, but it's not like I don't actually believe in most of them. Truth be told, though, I'm a "Massachusetts Republican". I have more than just a few liberal beliefs...but as a whole, I lean more right.

Either way, I'm a far cry from most other Subie drivers!

No, they drive school busses with big ****ing GM 454ci motors that are in desperate need of tune-ups and belch out more hydrocarbons than your typical city bus.

The fact that you drive a WRX shouldn't blow anyone's mind. Younger WRX owners that are Republicans are no stretch of the imagination. Now, if you drove a 1998 Outback, then yeah, I could see you being a far cry.

I would say the older the WRX driver, the more likely they are to be liberal, and the younger the driver the more likely they are to be conservative. *I'm not saying this is absolute, but the trends would show this pattern.* Go check out the political values of any WRX owner under 22. Don't be surprised when 75% have sideways visors hanging from the rear view mirror. (i.e. If your parents have the money to hook you up with a $23k car between 16 and 18 years old, you will most likely follow their conservative stance.) /gross generalizations

Umm yeah, my parents never bought me a car :-\

But that brings up a good point, totally off the point of this thread. My roommate was raised on money...and he's very intelligent. Yet he's more to the left than Joseph Stalin. I don't get it.

I just don't understand...

It's like liberal Catholics. How the hell did they come to be?! They're lieing about something. Either they don't believe in their religion, or they're not really liberals.

So you're saying that one can't be wealthy and Liberal?

Or do you just assume all Liberals are sitting around waiting for a handout?

The latter. It's not an assumption, it's quite true more often than not. Part of the liberal belief is all about hand-outs.
