I predict that I dominate this just like I dominated the OT fantasy football league. Combined with the thousands of dollars that I win in Vegas the opening weekend of March Madness it will be a very good tournament for me.

I think Illinois is a lock for 1 seed overall. Even if they lose in the B10 tourney, they still only have 2 losses. They would probably have to lose by 20+ in their first game in the B10 tourney to not be a 1 seed.

DaveB, you go to U of I now? I am a 1995 alum.

Yep, just looked at ESPN's bracketology, and they are still a 1 despite. ESPN shifted the Play-In Game, which marks the highest seeded of the 1 seeds, from Illinois to NC.

Even with only 1 loss, Ill. risks dropping to 2 if they don't win out in the conference tourney. The committee considers recent trends when seeding the teams, and a team that lost two games early but closed out the season with no more losses will be given more weight than one that lost 2 of its last 4 games, for example.

I see what you are saying but what about St. Joe's last year? They lost by 20 in the A10 quarterfinals and still got the 1 seed. So is 1 loss by 20 still better than 2 losses by only a few (if IL were to lose again in the B10 tourney by a small margin)? All of this at the end of the season.

I don't think the committee uses point differentials in their model. Least that's what they said on ESPN.

St. Joe's was undefeated until that 1/4Final loss. A loss for Ill would be their second, and there may be some teams out there that are considered stronger than the alternatives to St Joe's were considered to be last year. It's all relative.

Here's an article on selection process from ESPN.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/column...jay&id=2005383

"The Committee considers the following factors: a team's record against Division I competition, a team's RPI (overall, conference, and non-conference), conference records, road records, record in the last 10 games, records against teams sorted by the RPI, head-to-head results, common opponents results, good wins, bad losses, good losses, bad wins, the quality of competition throughout the year, and injuries, scheduling issues and other circumstances that could have affected the results on the floor."

What it comes down to: just win. I just hope IL gets a 1 seed.

My two favorite teams this year are Nevada and whoever is playing Duke.

I can't stand any coach that would allow his school to put his name on the court before he's dead.

Now if they could only get the commitee members to watch a good number of games before deciding on the seedings.
