Default TX: 2002 Stage 2 WRX Wagon - 28k Miles - Pictures Added!

Pictures now posted in the below reply!

Spring TX (just a little north of Houston). The car has been carefully maintained with Mobil 1 Synthetic every 3k miles. I work from home 3 days a week so that's why the miles are limited - that plus we always drove my wife's SUV on the weekends with the kids. I'm 32 years old and have never raced or abused this car (respecting that AWD does not respond well to clutch drops that and I drop-off and pick-up my kids after work...). The reason I'm selling is that I really need a larger vehicle since I have a new baby on the way. I have thoughtfully modified this vehicle to increase power and safety (read durability).

KBB Retail is $20685 with no mods - Private Party is $18085.

I am asking $18k - this vehicle is paid for so there is no issue with liens

Mods/Upgrades include:
OEM "Sedan" 20mm rear sway bar (since wagon comes with 17mm)
Factory short-throw shifter
Factory Boost gauge
Wagon Cargo Net
Wagon Cargo Tray
Wagon Bumper Protector
STI Hood Scoop (painted to match - better air flow)
Hood Scoop slitter (more evenly distributes air over intercooler)
STI Intercooler hoses (better air flow)
Speed Monkey Chimney Turbo Heat Shield (better cooling good here in TX)
STI Panel Air Filter
Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S tires - great wet/dry traction (maybe 4k miles on these - bought ~ 6 months ago @ Discount Tire with Roadhazard warranty)
17" Aluminum rim - Konig (these were from the dealer so I don't have any details on these)
OEM Armrest Extension
OEM Rear Cupholder (from forrester - doesn't match color but I have original part if desiered)
OEM Rubber floormats - will provide original carpet ones
MOMO "Race" Leather Shift Knob
Pioneer Premier MP3 CD Stereo (200W - Display color matches exactly with Dash Lights - this is the one with changeable pictures/movies - dolphins swimming etc.)
Infinity RS Series Separates in front and 2-ways in rear
JL Audio 10" Sub with Custom WRX Wagon Box
MTX Thunder AMP (don't know wattage but the system cost me over $1k from Car Toys)

Stage 2 Upgrade Details

From the Rally Performance website:
ScoobySport STAGE 2: 290 hp add $682.00 (total: 1881.00 dual-tip exhaust was extra)

Stage 2 UPDATE! available now! COMPARE to others, on a dollars for performance basis! Retains stock turbo and even the stock catalyst while safely taking your WRX to 290 hp! ... 13.5 quarter mile at 101mph... Extremely early spool time allows great road and even track performance. For another 10 hp (300 hp) on track, add our front center pipe.

Stage 2 includes switchable boost maps for 2002 and 2003 model years. You choose from the drivers seat whether you are on the conservative map (optimized fuel economy with stock boost levels) or the aggressive map (16.5 psi, very linear throttle response).

Using the EcuTek ECU tuning platform, Rally Performance offers a new stage 2 kit. It matches the most innovative Impreza engine management upgrade in the world to the legendary ScoobySport exhaust. It includes the Rally Performance ECU (or a remap of your factory ECU - you may schedule a core exchange with us if you wish). We also recommend the intercooler hose upgrade for the factory intercooler.

I have never dyno'd this car so I cannot verify the above HP claims, but I can say the car is significantly different that stock in its performance and driveability (not trying to sell you on the "marketing" stuff above).

I have original exhaust parts as well as the scoop and other parts - will include with this sale.

No issues with the vehicle other than a couple of dings (no paint issues with these and they could probably be fixed with that "paintless" repair) and a scratch on the rear bumper (courtesy of a shopping cart) - along with a few chips in the front fascia (rocks).

Please PM me (assuming I can figure out how to use that) and I can send pics via e-mail.

I would of course prefer a local sale, but would consider shipping if it works (never done that before so I would need information on how to accomplish that).

I'm going to try to put in some pictures, but if I can't figure it out please e-mail me - thx.

It appears I cannot post pictures since I haven't posted 10 times...please e-mail me for pics - erik.grigson@gmail.com

It didn't list it clearly above, but the full exhaust is genuine ScoobySport bought from RallyPerformance - includes the cat-less up-pipe, cat-less down-pipe, - and dual-tip muffler (which cost more but I think looks/sounds better). The factory 3rd cat is left in place - this has passed emmissions here with no problems. With the Ecutek re-flash done by RallyPerformance for that specific set-up.

Thanks for looking!

Hi. Does the stage 2 upgrade invalidate the 36 and 60k mile warrantees?

The exhaust pieces would invalidate any exhaust related issues since they're not factory pieces - this would undoubtedly include the turbo since the up-pipe has been changed - although I have all OEM pieces and will include them - if desired you could return the car back to stock. The ECU reflash is invisible to Subaru scan tools (I always made sure I changed back to "stock" mode before going in for any service) and never have had any issues. I bought the car in 11/2002 so the 3 Year/36k miles is good until that time

The last service I had was related to the ABS on the car. I had gotten a flat and was waiting on a new tire to come in - so I was driving on the spare for a couple of days. Apparently the Subaru ABS doesn't like when you have different size wheels on and this caused the ABS to go out - knowing that I have after-market rims and tires - this had no affect on that repair being covered under the warranty. To alleviate this issue from occuring in the future I bought an extra tire that Discount Tire was clearing out - so the next time I had a flat (which happens to me since I live in a new subdivision with lots of nails) they just mounted that tire until my replacement Pirelli came in. I would include that tire with the car since I would have no use for it...

nice car. The exhaust looks stock great for people that live in areas where cops are looking for moded cars.

Price was lowered to $18k - look above at the pictures - the car is in great shape and never abused.

Mileage? Also, you're probably not getting offers because the pricing is still a bit high. I know it's painful to realize, but such is life. KBB pricing is also out of whack. Check out www.nadaguides.com, or www.edmunds.com.

Mileage is listed 28xxx miles - changes daily.

I have to disagree with the price being too high and here is the logic:

KBB Private Party Value on stock version of my car = $16,575
Edmunds Private Party Value on stock version = $14,900
NADA Trade-In Value on stock version = $15,500

Add the $5k+ in upgrades ($2k Stage 2 kit, $1500 wheels/tires from dealer, $1k stereo, etc.) then asking $18k is not out of the ballpark.

Thanks for looking!

Whoops, missed the mileage. Good luck getting retail on the mods. Generally you'll get better return by returning the car to stock and selling the mods separately. PITA I know.

Of couse myself the seller would focus on the higher value (KBB @ $16,575) and the buyer would focus on the lower value (Edmunds @ $14,900) - but if we take the middle value of NADA @ $15,500 and add 50% value of the upgrades ($2500) we get $18000 which is what I'm asking. I feel that this is fair.

Thanks,

Erik
