Question OT: MD eye doctors with good selection of frames?

Hey Mid-A. I'm planning to head to the eye doc for the first time in a couple years to get my eyes checked and another pair of glasses. I never wear my current glasses in public because I don't like the look of them. reason? any eye doctor I ever go to doesn't seem to have much of a selection.

Can anyone suggest an eye doc that has a bigger selection of frames? I can't do places like lenscrafters as my insurance doesn't cover them.

Thanks

At first I looked at your title and thought:

"MD eye doctor? Hmm, interesting contradiction there--.... Oh! Maryland! Riiiiiight...."

I got mine last fall at Dr. Janet Dardick's office near Camp Hill, PA.... They're brown Dakota Smith frames, kind of square-ish.

Doesn't do you much good though.

Even though your insurance doesn't cover LensCrafters, do they cover any retail eyeglass stores? PearleVision perhaps? I've always had positive experience with them (they are covered by my vision plan at work) and they have a large selection of frame styles.

I usually don't get my frames and lenses from my eye doctor's office because their selection is small and the frames are very expensive.

I don't know where you are in Maryland, but I like the PearleVision store in the Columbia Mall in Columbia, MD.

good point. I'll have to check into that idea. I use Avesis, an insurance company I've never heard of.

awesome. Thanks for the ideas. Surprisingly, my plan covers pearlevision and sterling optical. Now, which one to choose. Maybe I'll run a poll in OT.
