(Much as I love my WRX, it has taken me a lot of practice to learn how to drive the car well in city traffic. You really need to pay attention to the tach and down shift as needed.)

I'm just sick of people saying it's going to have 230HP, that to me seems like pure BS. If it doesn't have at LEAST 245HP, Subaru has failed on launching the 2.5L Turbo on the WRX platform.

who cares what it says on paper? what matters is how it really performs. the Forester XT has less horsepower on paper than a wrx but is faster.
I guessing the numbers could be 230hp, 250lb/ft. |

i for one would like to see a red sti too.
but my take would be: red sti, rd interior, 35%tint all around, sti v-limited lip, ssr sp-1's in black. a wing with a cf center blade would ice it, but hey i won't beg |

2.0 guys need to remember that the 2.5 WRX will have a much lower redline. The 2.0L engine will still be sought after by people who appreciate the character of high output engines. Don't get your resale value panties all in a wad just yet.

I was kidding, it could very well beat it on the straight. Only thing I know about that car is its a turbo charged neon.

The Forester XT and Baja make peak hp at 5600rpm with a 6500rpm redline. I wouldn't expect peak figures to fall far from those for the 2.5L WRX. The STi gets a higher redline because it uses different parts.. not just because Subaru decided to change the ECU programming arbitrarily.

i think 2.5L is a definite improvement. honestly i don't think there's much else to improve on the WRX. its cornering ability is great, all it needs work on is the horsepower output
frankly having 160-170bhp on a stock engine is a bit too low for my tastes Quote:
so eventually we all just rolled our eyes and started making fun of them. because OBVIOUSLY "srt-4 is f4stAr!" ![]() |

Id like to see back to back dyno charts for the 2.0 turbo and 2.5 turbo. Even if they have similar peak HP numbers, if the 2.5's peak is 1000 RPM's lower or if its powerband is wider it will seem to drive like it has a lot more HP. Again I dont know this is fact. But id like to see the charts to find out.

i dunno...i'd prefer to have a narrower powerband with higher torque/hp ratings. make good use of a 6-gear tranny to maintain a car whose powerband is between 5k-7k. or perhaps 5.5k-7k. just my 0.02...
