I'm jealous! How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? They don't look too hard to do, I researched them awhile ago.

I got my lights when I bought the Baja, installation does require removal and notching of part of the body to route the cable.

fortunately for the '05s are prewired for the lights, hopefully that makes the install a little easier.

So was the 04,but its still a pain in the ass to do.You still have to run the roof harness and trim back the rubber seal on the pass side for the harness to slide under the plastic roof panel. It can be done without taking all the plastic parts off that the instructions tell you to do.I thought pre-wired meant that the roof harness was installed also but its not.

hmm - on Subie's '05 at a glance they mention pre-wiring as something new, i wonder what is the difference over the '04s.

Look on the pass side roof rail on the inside and see if theres a harness running along the inside of the rail from the rear to the front.I think when they say its pre-wired that means the main wiring is in the vehicle, but the roof harness still has to be installed. And the switch holder is already installed on 04,05.03 you had to install this.

There's a set on eBay right now for 50% off...

eBay sports activity lights

A few other items of interest:

Ozzbros cover . I don't know how that price compares to getting it direct or elsewhere, however.

Cool

so i put the lights on today
1. the screws for the ash tray are a pain in the butt. and dont drop any screws cuz if you do there gone forever.
2. you have to take half the bed apart to get to the plug up in the cargo light console.
3. the button clips that hold the bed wall lining in break very easy. i have to go to subaru and see if they can get me some.

other then that it wasnt so bad doing it myself. they look great and its so worth it to do it yourself and save all the money. oh yea and the part where it tells you to cut it a notch out...... i didnt and it fit fine.

I think they are since the first year models were loaded, and the 03 light kit is different from the others. On the 03 you have to install the switch holder, where as the later years have this installed. The 03 takes a different relay than the others,i found this out since i bought a set for an 03 and put them on my 04.One way to check to see if its pre-wired is to pull your 3rd brake light assy and see if theres a extra harness plug on the right side of the opening tucked up in there.

How did you run the wires to the cargo/high mount breaklight to connetc them did you have to drill holes in the roof or is there a way to run the wire under the roof rack.

If you are looking for something that does a dual purpose check these out!

They not only give your lights a distinctive look, they keep the lights from getting all pitted. The stock white hard plastic Baja covers tend to crack at the base after a number of cycles of on and off- plus they always seem to be on when you want to use the lights...

These are an adhesive backed 17mil pvc vinyl that go on like a big sticker and stay on full time. You can remove them at a later date, but they can not be re-used.

The HID Blue shines through bright white and the yellow shines yellow - great for rain and snow.

We are having site issues with hotsubaru.com so if anybody would like a set you can click the Baja fogs here and just let us know they are for the Baja Sport Activity Lights and we will get them right out!

The roof harness plugs in behind the 3rd brake light and runs under the plastic panel towards the pass side. Then the harness comes out and is attached to the rear roof rail with plastic straps screwed into the plastic end of the rail to hold the harness.Theres double sided tape that holds the rest of the harness to the rail, and at the other end you install a plastic holder for the end of the harness with the connector. This is used when the lights are off the roof and holds the connector end secure.

All it takes is 1 click up on the brake to work the lights and the brake is still disengaged so theres no damage.
I'm planning on pulling my console to see if that switch can be jumped so that the E-brake does'nt have to be pulled.I'll post the results later if theres anything good to post.
