Default Noob with LED bulbs

So help me out. I know HID bulbs in reflective housings are dumb, but I see lots of LED bulbs out there for direct swap into 9005 and 9006 halogen housings and was wondering if that's more acceptable?

I'm simply looking to swap out the crap halogen for some newer tech that emits nice crisp white (5000k) light.

They seem to come in a lot of different wattage amounts, too, so help picking out similar or maybe slightly brighter (not traffic blinding) bulbs would be great. Not sure how accurate something like this table is for auto purposes:

Something else: would I have to worry about LEDs that don't have massive heat sinks like some other full on HID conversion kits (with projector housings and such) which is not what I'm after.

Does your car have projectors? What car are you planning on putting these in? While not ideal, HIDs will be more or less fine in a projector housing. I'm not sure if LEDs get bright enough, and on some models the DRL and High beam shares one light at different voltages, so if you swap to LED you lose your highbeams.

I'm looking to put LED's into my stock halogen headlights on the evo.

Pic for reference, not my car. The base headlight (not the SSS package HID ones).

I don't know how they would work on reflector housings, but I tried them in projector housings and light output was really bad mmmmkay. Like unsafe bad. I have a thread about it in here.
