Default what are you swapped RS guys running for a clutch?

I plan on keeping the stock tranny for a bit until i blow it up haha. I am in need of a new clutch soon and will be doing a swap by summer time of this year (hopefully).

I was told i needed a stage 2 clutch of some sort for it to hold the power of a stock or slightly modified usdm 2.0L.

what are some of you who have swapped a wrx engine running for a clutch on your stock RS transmissions?

ACT tranny twister, I think its the street series but not sure, i put down more power than a stock wrx with a 2.2t shortblock and rallispec stage 2 kit.

ACT Street, barely holding on. They are rated about 310tq.

Was running:
Exedy Street (organic)

Killed it doing launches with the STi motor in the car. Probably didn't help that I didn't switch the clutch when I went from turbokit to STi motor.

Using the Exedy pressure plate with a Clutchnet 6 puck sprung hub metallic disk (it was cheap and seems to be holding fine for now till I can switch to a WRX w/ RA gears or a 6 speed)

awesome! thanks for the input guys!

i am leaning towards the exedy Stage 1, what tq is it rated for?

i am more of a solo 2/ hotlap kind of guy. but i wouldn't mind doing a few runs on the drag strip now and then.

my understanding is that it would be wise to resurface the flywheel before i throw the clutch in right? I think i will end up throwing a lightened flywheel on the new engine when it comes in =D

I was using a ClutchMasters stage 3 clutch for awhile with my JDM engine. 3 full seasons of auto-x on it, and it just went last oct. Now I'm running the ACT street clutch. I don't like the feel as much, and it seems to overheat easier than the CM3 did. However, it is much more driveable in the cold. The CM3 would shudder quite a bit below about 30 degrees

seems like the Exedy Stage 1 Organic Clutch and Exedy lightweight flywheel are pretty popular. Anybody have the PN for the combo? how much did you all pay for excedy stage 1 organic??

has anybody dealt with www.clutchcityonline.com before? prices seem pretty cheap compared to some vendors.

for you guys making real power, the Tilton's clutches that people are running on their WRX"s will fit in an RS too.

I'm using the Exedy clutch with a Fidanza flywheel. Autocross, track days and hillclimbs have yet to make it slip. I got them from clutchexpress.com. I would steer clear of the SPEC clutch though. A friend of mine had on in his RST and it slipped like mad even though he was only pushing 6psi. The pedal feel of it is very close to stock unlike the ACT or the SPEC.

As far as blowing up your RS transmission goes I wouldn't count on it unless you are pushing insane power though it and doing clutch drops or slamin gears both of which are not good practices with any transmission.

I got my Exedy clutch from them. I didn't like what they did initially though. They made the regular OEM one look like the Exedy clutch, then when you order that clutch thinking it's the Exedy for $180 they email you saying, we're out of stock of this clutch, but you can upgrade to the Stg 1 for an extra $80. Overall it was still cheaper than most places and I got the product fine, but it was a little deceptive.
