Default Cobb Stage 1 93 oct EGT's

ok i did a search last night and couldnt find exactly what i was looking for...

I have a stock 04 wrx running a Cobb Stage 1 93 oct base map, no real-time map is loaded. I got my Accesport about 2 weeks ago and loaded it up around a week and a half ago. I just installed my gauges the other day and finally had a chance last night to do a couple WOT pulls. Max I was hitting was about 14 pounds....no more than that. But my Egt's seemed high..i was right at 1700 F ....i pulled four times up to around 100 mph and hit about 1700 each time. I stopped and looked under my hood, my turbo was glowing pretty good, but what i think was my uppipe was glowing real good, looked like molten steel. I have always run Shell 93 oct ever since i got my car.

So im kinda scared now that im running a little too hot. What are others running with a setup like mine?

I don't think the uppipe cat is rated to withstand those temperatures. I think it's only rated up to about 1650 degrees F.

I'd try reloading the base map to make sure it's okay. I think 1700 is on the high side. You might want to call Cobb on Monday. In the meanwhile, I'd keep a close eye on that gauge.

Just to clarify- this is based on a gauge that is tapped in the header?

Mike

Yeah the probe is right after the 3rd cylinder.

I'll try reloading the map tonight. I figured that the cat was gonna be a problem at those temps. I may call cobb tomorrow and see what they say.

This just makes me want an uppipe and exhaust that much sooner....im never gonna save money this way haha.
