New Subaru Forester, Saab "B9 Tribeca" to Debut at New York Auto Show

The vehicle will go on sale in the United States in June or early July, but a company spokesperson told Inside Line in a phone interview that no estimated price or engine specifications are available yet. The spokesperson did confirm the automaker's high-powered Forester Turbo model will continue into this new generation.

Subaru may also allow Saab to produce a version of its forthcoming B9 Tribeca SUV. Saab's new 9-2X wagon is based on the Subaru Impreza. A Saab spokesperson said in a recent phone interview with Inside Line that the company "is seriously studying" building its own version of the B9 Tribeca. At the New York show, Saab will show a version of the Subaru seven-seater called 9-6X.

What this means to you: With each automaker becoming ever more intricately entwined with other automakers, the auto-industry family tree is bearing some interesting fruit.

Are you saying this knowing something or just guessing?

The leaked document that confirms the 2.5L WRX also seems to deny the possibility of a 3.0 Legacy.

In the new C&D there is a two page ad for the Saab 97X. at first glance I thought that it looked like the B9 but brushed it off as coincidence. I'm not sure if this is the model that they are talking about but it does resemble the B9.

No, the '06 Forester is based on the '05 Forester. It's just a mild restyle of the front end and some other details. It is still an SG model like the 2003-2005 models which does make it similar under the skin to the GD Imprezas.

There was a TSB describing the OBD-II capabilities of the MY2006 Subarus. Not exactly a leak.

Only the X model has rear drum, the rest of the models are disc the whole way around.

Still though, the Forester X is the ONLY Subaru model to not have 4 wheel disc brakes. Even the base Impreza 2.5 has 4 wheel disc. It just seems rather silly to only have one model without 4 wheel disc brakes, and its not even the cheapest car they make.
