Never mind, I won't be having Good speed work on my car. Clark Turner won't tune Hydra 2.5 version, just figured I would let everyone know so they don't bother asking him.

I wish could read all that info. I've got a 2.5 R15 I want to use to run the EJ257 in my '99 2.5RS.

The forum honestly wouldn't go into detail about that type of engine swap. It's fairly simple when a customer orders a Hydra with that intention because we would provide them with the correct Hydra, wiring harness, and wiring diagram.

In your case if you're starting with an RS specific Hydra, which runs specific crank/cam trigger hardware, it could be an issue with a full swap.

I would have to charge you for our technical support package but I could provide you with a correctly setup Hydra map, wiring instructions, and technical support to get this done. Now if you have the wrong Hydra for this application (not an STi specifi Hydra) you may not be able to run the AVCS in closed loop, and you may not be able to run the direct fire ignition system. If you have an STi Hydra good, then you'll just need the correct wiring harness, map, and wiring instructions.

Thanks,
Phil Grabow

hi phil,

I'm running blouch dominator 4.0 turbo, 3" air inlet to the turbo, regular pump gas + % 10 toluene, 1000cc injectors, do you have a base map i can start my car on?

I have hydra 2.5 (EUUK000270 does it mean anything?) and a 06 sti

What brand of injectors? Do you know if they are low impedance or high impedance? Typically on the older Hydras I only have low impedance maps for 1000cc and larger. On 2.6 and newer Hydras I have high impedance maps for 1000cc and larger.

rc 1000 cc injectors (pl4-1000). resistance: 2.5 ohms @ 68f. i think they are low impedance.

btw, my e-mail address is agurlek@gtias.com.tr. you can send the map via e-mail. thank u in advance...

Ok good we have plenty of maps for the RC1000cc as I run those in my race car.

This is a non Element Tuning Hydra EMS so you're going to have to purchase the technical support ($249) package from us and we'll provide you with a tuned base map and provide assistance as we would if you purchased the unit from Element Tuning or one of our dealers. I have sold many technical support packages to overseas Hydra user and no one has ever felt it wasn't totally work it.

Contact us directly via email if you like to purchase and move forward.

Have you ever come across an issue that the car will not rev past 6200-6500 rpm in a free rev or under load .

Ive tried everything with this ECU , and no joy . The stock and a borrowed haltech run the car fine .

Ive even soldered resitors , to make a bridge incase of noise , still the same . Ive worked with many ecus over the years and have never come across this issue . We have scoped the unit and the signal seams fine , but since it runs fine on the stock and haltech , i cant see it being a car issue at this stage .

I am asking if you might point me in the right direction as ive gotten to the stage were I am starting to loose my patience with Hydra HQ and throw this nemesis in the bin and get a Syvecs .

Any help welcome

Joe

Is this an Element Tuning Hydra EMS and are you running one of our base maps?

Is this a new Hydra 2.7 or is this an upgrade to Hydra 2.7?

What car is this for, year, make, model?

The graph doesn't tell me much I need the actual numbers from the data log but here are a few things it could be:

Did you set the Maximum Boost so that it's not fuel cut? You can log over boost cut flag.

Did you set the hard and soft rev limiters beyond 6k rpm?

Is your anti-lag, launch control, or flat shift maps engaged and or are they even set up in the Auxilliary Inputs? You can log any of these "launch control flag" etc. If you have them setup in the Auxillary inputs, turn those off and test again.

I just thought id pop the question here as you seam knowledgeable regarding the nemesis , which is a pretty basic unit compared to motec m800 , DTA ect ive worked with in the past .

I had an old 2.5 which was updated , but only lasted a week , and died . Andrew sent me a new ecu and wiring harness

Hard and soft are set above 7500rpm , everything is disabled regarding , launch control, flatshift . boost limiter is set at 30 psi . ive tried dwell from 1.5 ms to 5 ms and pretty much every trick like earthing , shielding , even built a "bridge" resistor pack on the cam and crank inputs in case of over voltage or noise

Car is a Type R subaru STI GC8 running ej257 with gt3076r

If it's basic you should have this covered, right

Honestly without our base map it can be so many things as the Hydra 2.7 is by no means basic. We've simplified the interface to make it more user friendly but the layers are many deep. With an upgrade not done via Element Tuning you're going to have issues because your old map will not transfer, you need to start over, and manually copy over some parts of your map (if you had a 2.6).

If you set your dwell to 5 ms you could have burned up the coil pack or at the very least it will misfire badly at high RPM.

In any event we only support Element Tuning Hydras and upgrades done via Element Tuning. We sell a tech support package with a base map for those Hydras that are not Element Tuning. Without starting with a known good 2.7 base maps it's going to be tough to track down the issue.

Default Hydra 2.7 Updates and Upgrades

Hydra owners, If you have a 2.7 Hydra EMS we often update the software with new releases. These units are user flashable now and the most current software is available here:

http://hydraems.com/software/

If you have a 2.1-2.6 Hydra EMS and want to upgrade to the latest 2.7 software (various hardware upgrades) now is the time to do it. Until February 1st 2012 upgrades are 25% off.

http://hydraems.com/emsupgrade/

Contact Element Tuning and we'll get you set up and an RMA# issued

It also seems the upgrade price when up to 400 from 300 at least for the 2002-2005 wrx hydra 2.6.

hey phil I have my car running good when I can get it start! my afr is 13.0-13.5 at idle but!!
once it warms up and I turn it off it will not start!
I found out what cams I have they are the kelford big cams!
Advertised Duration @ 0.25 mm 282 278 Duration @ 1.0 mm Valve Lift 240 236
so... you sent me a map called Element STi 04-07 950cc GT65 Cosworth Cams NO AVCS 50psi fp CH.s26
Only thing i can come up with is the timing is off so it will not start? is that possable?
please let me know what you think??

It's a hot start issue due to the porting and cams. It's a simple fix but you should read my tuning guides, this one addresses starting: http://elementtuning.com/techdocs/el...uning-guide-3/

It's for the older software but the terminology is the same. Basically if you can cold start but not hot start you just need to add more "cranking enrichment" to the hot coolant areas of this map. On cars with porting you may have to use 35 % or so in the 70C + coolant areas of the "cranking enrichment map."

You can download it from hydra ems website under software tab
Also recommended downloading the pdf file 200+ pages of helpful tuning guidelines
Element tuning has three pages that are good pointers for common tuning issues
