Default Wierd subtle vibrations in acceleration and clutch pedal.

Okay so I am starting to notice this very subtle vibration in both those pedals. It feels almost as if the car is rumbling now when I floor it past 3k RPMs. I have been driving a manual car for 1 month, and learned on this WRX (yes, a dumb idea!). It seems as if I have less power than when I got the car a month ago. I have been in a friends 98 VR6 Jetta whose car was misfiring on a few cyllinders, and it felt as if the engine wobbled like a washer that was unbalanced; My car feels similar. Could my clutch be slipping? Is my engine misfiring?

I have a 7yr 100k mile warranty on the car still. Is it worth taking in to a dealership to check out? Will they charge me just to inspect?

I know it is hard to gauge what is actually wrong by just reading this post, but any sort of suggestions that would possible lead to a solution would be GREAT!

-Glen

what kind of mods have u done to the car so far?

hard to tell, could be a lot of things. i doubt it's misfiring...you would know if the car is misfiring, it makes loud POP POP POP noises.

definitely take it to the dealership, all they'll do is either fix it or deny it, they won't bite. and in any case you can go to several dealerships to try and get it fixed. sounds like a pretty major problem.

My motor "rumbles" more around 3k rpms too, and because of my stiffer engine mounts i get some added vibration then too.. i think its pretty normal. Your probably just psyching yourself out. Your car seems slower because your used to it now a month later.. Or you might have a serious problem hehe, if it gets worse have a mechanic check it out. Change your plugs, oil, do a compression test.

That sounds what it might be Paul. I hope it is just myself psyching myself out, and getting used to the car. But because I learned to drive manual on this car, I sort of abused the clutch unknowingly in the first week or two. I am almost expecting it to start slipping. The car now has 33k miles on it and had a clutch replaced at 15kmiles.

I have done zero mods to the car. I know exactly how very stiff motor mounts feel btw, my friend's VR6 has some poly-somethingerother ceramic motor mounts, and you basically feel the motors every movement when it's put into gear.

Will take it to the dealership and keep this thread posted on what happens!

Thanks for the speedy responses!

p.s. what's it feel like when my clutch slips? Will it definitely be noticable?

if you learned to drive stick on that car then the chances are high that you abused the tranny, not the clutch. especially on a WRX, since the tranny is a lot more sensitive to your input. so unless you had the clutch half-engaged for a LONG time, chances are your tranny has some abuse on it.

very noticeable. first of all your clutch engagement point should come a lot quicker than normal if it's worn out. and when your rpm drops during shift it might not even very smooth or even.

don't worry you'll know it when you know it. it's like learning to feel when the gear is engaged...you just sorta know.
