Use it until it causes you a problem by leaking or something. Its money worth keeping until you really need one.

A viable alternative that I myself am looking at is the Perrin Performance BOV because it positions the piston off axis by 90 degrees from the stock one and will hold boost better. Also adds underhood bling and recirculates to prevent one from running rich between shifts thus alleviating the biggest problem with aftermarket BOV. It also should be quiet so as not to draw attention.

Nice pitch
Yeah if you WANT to upgrade it there are heaps of options GFB perrin, Blitz HKS etc etc.
He wanted to know if he could keep the factory one, and if it aint broke dont fix it. need vs want.

Are you talking about the WRX? If so you are in the wrong forum.

I am not in ANY way affilliated with Perrin or any other vendor on this board. I just happen to have the Perrin rear antisway bar and end links and in my opinion, Perrin products seem to be of high quality and of good design. The way the Perrin BOV works makes sense to me and seems to be efficient and effective in operation. I also dont want any more attention to my car than necessary and this valve recirculates so it should be on the quite side.
