So I continue my search for an Impreza RS or Legacy GT. Came across a Legacy GT-R on ebay -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW Seeing as how I haven't heard of an "R," I thought I would send the seller an e-mail. Here's his response: "I have contacted my local Subaru dealership to inquire about your concern amd they told me that it was probably just the previous owner trying to make it look really nice. And they agreed that it did. They told me however that "R" stands for Rally and with the short throw, the air intake, and aftermarket exhaust it would probbaly handle like a rally car as well. Thank you." Just goes to show you have to be so careful on ebay. The uninformed is going to get scammed. Jim

Honestly I don't put it past anybody to do that type of stuff to a Legacy and then call it a Type R because of the accessories, funny none the less...

!!WARNING!! : If you don't like intense ride, experience, and attention, this car is NOT for you!
Good thing he added that warning because I'm looking for a car which offers an intense ride without an "intense experience." |

Here's the message I sent him:
How can you claim those are BBS wheels? I work for Subaru and those are factory stock wheels. They are NOT BBS wheels. Might want to take that part out of your auction, as well as the "GT-R" part. Subaru did not make a Legacy GT-R here in the US. Making up some random letter designation like "the R is for rally" isn't right either. At least market the car as what it is, a modified Legacy GT..." He did change the auction from BBS wheels to "BBS look wheels" and he changed the GT-R designation. I still think the car looks like crap though Poor Legacy |

OMG! That car is the h0tness! I think I'll do the same to mine.
Also, I want to get "an intense ride" in my car, maybe I should lose the turbo? What an ugly bastardization of a Legacy. Whoever spent the time and money making it "type R" is an idiot. |

No, that's just part of the "accented interior to match", The 'R' on the mats was just a weird coincidence.

Even though the floor mats are indeed a shade flashy, and the red painted interior tirm isn't stock, this car clearly hasn't been messed with all that much.
Thats an excellent machine, and the seller isnt asking for a whole lot. The seller does however seem to be rather ignorant of what he/she has. Having driven through the state of Ohio, I can confirm that this is indeed an exceptionally rare car. There are almost no Subarus in the entire state of Ohio. |
