Default Thanks guys-- had a splendiferous visit!

Couldn't ask for better weather this past weekend for my first time in SF! I think I managed to do all the usual touristy stuff in a matter of three days, including lunch at the Cliff House, followed by drinks at the Spinnaker (?) in Sausolito to take in the view; dinner later at a great seafood joint (we had to wait outside so the proprietor kept bringing us wine); half day in the gorgeous, GORGEOUS park since I stayed at the Stanyan Park Hotel (hot receptionist by the way); dinner at Fog City Diner, walked the Barbary Coast Trail, spent an enjoyable hour at City Lights book store... In all, incredible and I envy you guys who live there despite the hight rent, persistent panhandlers (Tenderloin's nasty in spots), some awful drivers...

I did manage to see a few STis all blue/gold or maybe the same one over and over again??? I was too busy spotting new Elise's, '59 DeSotos, a Citroen Traction Avant, etc... Too cool.

I'm pretty well travelled and up until this point I've been infatuated with the Seattle area. Now I have a mistress...

Awsome... glad you enjoyed your stay in SF. I'm actually planning a road trip to Seatle in a week. I've only passed through there before and always wanted to explore it a bit. Any suggestions/tips?

Thanks

You need to visit Pike Place Market. There is a stand located there that has the best donuts. Wild Ginger for dinner is a nice place to dine. If the weather is nice, you could visit the Hiram M. Chittenden locks to Lake Washington. Rent kayaks at Aqua Verde on Lake Washington, then hit the restaurant upstairs for Mexican food and margaritas. A sea plane ride around the area, and you can find deals on them. If you've never been there before, the Space Needle is a great spot to view the city, especially around sunset. I like to hit the huge REI up there, but thats just me. I think a local could help much more, but those are some of the spots that I used to frequent when I visited my girlfriend up there. Nice city, and very clean, which makes sense because all of the rain. Enjoy!

Great suggestions! Thanks. We've never been there before, so we'll kind of be exploring, but recommendations are always a good guide.

Thanks
