Default cold start question

First thing in the morning when i start my car, and only first thing in the morning, it runs rough for about 5-10 seconds, but then smooths out. Is this common or is there something i should be checking for? Car has 28k on it, has ap stage 1 and gutted up. Prior to the flash though, it still ran rough on cold starts. Like i stated, it only does it when it hasn't been ran in 8-10+ hours. As far as I know, the previous owner kept the car completely stock. Any advice?

mine does it all the time. ive tried to tune it out, adjusting idle speeds, playing with fuel, messing with timing. ive tried gas additives, different gas stations, all with no results what-so-ever haha! i have no idea why it does it, but it never seems to cause any issues as far as i can tell. a friend of mine said something about condensation in the fuel filter, but i never looked into it.

gotcha, thanks haha! I've had the subie since august, before that i was in the honda scene and the car has done it since then, no honda's did it so i wondered if it was a subie thing. I thought for sure the ap would get rid of it, but nothing....glad i'm not the only one!

mine too...

I guess its just the engine running rough due to boxer design and its more noticeable since its not hot. I figure if it has a little "wobble" when its hot (sitting at a stoplight) it makes sense that it would do the same but be more obvious when its cold.

Me too. Lots of fuel for a few seconds. Sounds like a big WW2 radial engine turning over.

Or my injectors the first time when they weren't all quite seated.

I have the same problem, exept mine throws misfire codes from time to time.. I thought maybe my IAC was dirty since I get the irratic idle at cold startup, or maybe my battery's going since its around 5 yrs old.. I've never heard of the condensation in the fuel filter idea though
