......so what's your point????
my point was that in this "community" we don't have alot of members with experience using that turbo. there might be lots of info over in the JDM market but, as far as this messageboard is conserned there is significantly less info avaliable than that of the vf series.
as you said, its the supporting mods that account for the difference. surely, different supporting mods will be better suited for the 16g than the vf's depending on flow characteristics.
truthfully, i am still in the research phase on these turbos. it's not as easy as you think to find helpful info directly related to the wrx. not everyone has seen a whole lot of posts and heard the info over and over. there was a time when you knew nothing about these turbos and everything seemed a bit overwhelming. i don't see why you would make it a point to specifically not help someone with some links that you have see in the past.

Everybody is also different in what they think is a good turbo for them. ie. different driveng styles.

To me the vf34 was a waste of money,.. it was so close to stock. So I got the 22 and liked it. What else is there to say. I don't mind discussing the differences but realize,.. it is my world view or,... this guy claiming the 34 is the best thing since tits. I thought the 34 was a dissapointment. I already posted my vf22 278whp dyno. That car was plenty fast.

Am putting in a 2.5 Axis sb with an fpgreen right now. PS I would rather auto-X my $200, 94 Escort than my suby. The Suby is built for real life Oregon country roads not 12mph pylons.

Go to club wrx and look thru the different mods.

Also - I work at a shop putting packages together. We sold a friend with a stock 04 wrx, a FP20G.

We bought all the supporting mods, and they will be going on in about two weeks. A one day install 166whp to about 260whp (includes an EcuTeK) Then just a drive to pdx for a dynotune, and 280 depending on how much more,........ he if any he wants.

Sweating over is vf34 is really pretty small stuff. You wont feel much difference. Really.

I have the VF34, and yes I have been thinking about getting another turbo. The problem is that I can't hit target boost with the Cobb off-the-shlef map, so I havn't been very pleased with it. There is nothing wrong w/ my vf34, it just needs a custom tune. I went w/ the vf34 so I didn't have to get a custom tune (save $). But of course you always want more... I figure if I have to get a custom tune, why not just throw on a bigger turbo? I'm not sure If I'll go w/ a 16g because I'm not sure if it will be that much better than my vf34. The Super16g looks appealing... but I may just go for the 18g.

Seems like more and more poeple are starting to run and love the 16g. I have to admit thats that easy rebuild and being upgradeable is a huge plus. I wish I could spend a month swapping turbos to see which I like the best but that is just wishful thinking. Still would love to hear more of the 16g owners out there impressions(if there is anymore of you).

Go with the 16g.
vf34 in fact is ball-bearing, while vf30 is not.
