I Paypal'd for a hoodscoop from another member in the US over 6 weeks ago.

He said he sent it 5 weeks ago USPS. Said he couldn't get a tracking number but insured it for $100. How does one insure something without a tracking # .

I guessing this guys name and integrity don't appear in the same sentence.

Is there anything that can be done legally

At least I be in AUS in a weeks time talking with the TXS guys.

If you paypal'd with Visa, then Visa will cover you. I have run into this problem in the past, and they did not let me down. Immediate credit, then they investigate.

Keep in mind that anything from the US takes a long time because of USPS going to one sorting plant in the east. As well, if you send a regular parcel to the U.S. with insurance you don't get a tracking number either.

Be a little patient. I had a very similar issue with an ebay vendor, but it worked out in the end.

Package was sent 8th feb. Thought I was being alittle patient?

FWIW
I have had 4 USPS shipments sent to me. This one plus 3 from Gruppe a year ago and they didn't get here either/ever. Gruppe ended up re sending my stuff FEDEX.

USPS no more. I perfer to be scalped by UPS.

I agree with you there about USPS. The inconvenience of it being so slow due to lazy Customs officers is not worth it. I had a small package take 6 wks to get here. I will try use Fedex from now on, just so I don't get too raped like UPS.

I've had good luck sending stuff to the states via Canada Post, but USPS is a PITA. I ordered some RAAMatt with three day service via USPS (45 bucks) and got it two WEEKS later.

Isn't there a way to make a claim through Paypal? I have done it before, but I can't remember if it only works for eBay auctions payments. If I remember correctly, you have 45 days after the date of payment to make a claim.

I had a problem with some stuff a few weeks ago, and I started the claim process. The seller suddenly became very very eager to 'make things right' ..

There is a way to get stuff out of the states via USPS, and it will be delivered to you via Purolator (can't recall the USPS service level, but Purolator should be able to tell you, and it comes with a tracking number). You can also get Purolator directly out of the States, but not a lot of people even know who they are. The best thing about Purolator? No duties or taxes on product value up to $2000!

Myself, I can't stand UPS with those insane brokerage fees...I now won't buy something if they insist on shipping via UPS.

Agreed re: the UPS thing. A bunch of crooks. Had a pair of Stax headphones/tube driver shipped UPS once due to sellers insistance and when they arrived it looked like they had been kicked here from Arizona! They were VERY difficult to deal with as well!

I've had great success with USPS Airmail and a customs tracking #. Reg. USPS is not sooo goood.

Fo example: purchased a Group N PM and they sent reg USPS. After not seeing it for 4 weeks, the guy was nice enough to send a replacement (USPS Airmail & customs # upon my request) no questions asked. Well the 2nd unit showed up in 4 days and then the original a week later.

Seems the key is to get a customs tracking #. Guess this keeps the safety meetings and spontanious dougnut mowing in check since the actual time the parcel is in transit is on record.

This falls in line with my other purchases from the US (and I've purchased a LOT of stuff from there). Never have sent plane ol' USPS unless you don't mind ever seeing it! I think they end up the same place missing car keys and left socks dissapear to...

FWIW...

USPS = slow but no broker fee
UPS = fast but charge broker fee like a border bandit (?)
