Default 96 impreza 2.2L thermostat installation guide

does anyone know?

drain coolant, remove lower hose to water pump, remove two retaining bolts that hold the thermostat housing to the water pump (this is the part you took the lower hose off of), replace the thermostat and gasket. re-assemble, dont over tighten the housing bolts.

refill with coolant, follow the procedure in the owners manual for that.

from what I've heard Subarus can be picky about how you refill the coolant, and the block is made of aluminum so if it does overheat it can cause damage more quickly

So like McDade says, you might want to invest in that FSM to find out the exact procedure

It's on the bottom of the engine inside the housing that the lower radiator hose connects to.

Be careful, even after you drain the coolant, there will be a gush when you yank the t-stat out of there.
