This ain't no picnic!

Default What used to be the fringe of society is now mainstream, like...

punk rock music
tattoos
choppers

what else is now socially acceptable now, where 5 or 10 years ago was still fringe or taboo

1. Video games. They used to be for total nerds, now they are 10x more socially accepted than years ago.
2. Owning a Subaru. I wouldn't be caught dead in one, only driving BMW's and Porsches. Now I can't see myself driving anything else.

Mmmm hmmmm.

Also, being a redneck, hillbilly, dumbass has gotten more socially acceptable lately.

I'm saying that I would have never thought twice about owning a Subaru, thinking that only European "performance" cars were the way to go.

Now I can't see myself owning anything other than a Subaru. In fact, I own a WRX and an STi. I couldn't bring myself to sell the WRX, so I kept it as a beater.

Yes Brad, thatís the way it always has been. Think of the evolution of marijuana use in the 50's. Movies like Reefer Madness, and the idea that a person will turn into a raving lunatic if you smoke it. Years later, it went mainstream in the late 60's and 70's.

Now look at Rap and Hip Hop. In the very early 80's. That went from underground to mainstream also. Hell, You can see Grover on Sesame Street rapping.

You are observant in picking out the irony in the topic at hand, but (unfortunately) what it all comes down to is; "Todayís Underground is Tomorrows Mainstream".

As long as there are teenagers, it will be that way.

I have a couple hours after getting back from the gym, before I hit an upscale lounge at around 11:30. Video games are for those unexpected hour or two time gaps.
