So if I have custom engine mounts, tranny mounts, or suspension bushings, I have to race in open.
Am I reading this correctly? http://www.sfrscca.org/RallyX/docume...sesAndTech.pdf

Heh. "Master of Drift". That's pretty funny, considering my driving style in a Subaru is mostly driftless and kinda dull. Now in a RWD car - that's different story. There's nothing more fun than hanging the tail out!
Anyway, yeah, Element533 is reading the rules right, but we're probably going to revert back to the CRS rules for this year. The National SCCA's ones don't really work well for our constituency. We've had several discussions to try to figure out how to modify them so that they will work better, but we keep running into different edge cases that don't make sense. We'll definitely finalize things well in advance of the first event, but things are still in a bit of flux at the moment. |

Hey Steven,
Yeah, so the SCCA classifcations are, well, not quite fully baked. Like I mentioned in the email earlier today, we'll be rolling back to the CRS classifications as we've run during the past few of years to give us time to get this right and to allow for a wider discussion among everyone who wants to be involved in the process. This whole false start thing is a pain in the ass I know, but we believe that rolling with CRS classes this year, which have basically worked fine for us in the past, is the best option right now. I will try to get the site updated and email everyone by tomorrow evening. I'll post the message here as well, once I send it out. In the meantime, this is the new classifications document: http://www.sfrscca.org/RallyX/docume...esAndTech2.pdf |

Cool, sounds good. I'm glad to hear we'll be using the tried and true. Looking forward to it.
I'm still trying to get some dirt tires! (Maybe I can rent a set from one of the other competitors...?) |

Right now I think the CRS classes are sufficient with our current numbers (average a bit under 60 drivers per event). We're currently looking at a venue about an hour east of the Bay Area and if that works out and our drivers grow to 80-100 per event, we're going to need something a little better to represent the field. We're imagining one new "mid level mods with street tires" class between Street Stock and Street Modified.
With Solo II, in the past they've seen that events more than 100 miles outside of the Bay Area can be 50% smaller a turnout than those within 100 miles. Thunderhill is about 140 miles out depending, and we may be able to bring something in within 60 miles. Nothing written in stone yet, but we may have a mixed tarmac and dirt rallycross an hour away from the Bay Area later this year. ![]() |
