KC,

Any idea what this school will be like and how it will compare to other schools like the EVO school? I checked out the website and there's not much info there besides how to sign up. I went to my first auto-x at fort devens last weekend and I had a blast. I think I could definitely benefit from some instruction though. Is this school a good place to start? Thanks.

The NHIS school is geared towards novices so it would be a great place for you to go. Instructors are local experianced folks. There's usually three groups and you rotate between a braking, a slalom, and a sweeper type setup or something along those lines.

Send Chang an email soon to make sure there are spots left.

Plan on staying for the event the next day, camping can be done inside the track or there's a few places to stay around.

^I agree with this. Great seat time, and with excellent instruction. I took this a long time ago (when I started, it was actually $50!) and enjoyed myself.

Just seeing how much faster an instructor can drive your car through a tight course is worth the money.

I'll be at the SCCA National at NHIS Apr 30-May1 (Red Miata SSB #64, will probably be not too far from teh tunnel on the infield), I'll see about swinging by at some point.

I would look into getting the crack fixed before running. Auto-x will put flex on the body and well... we just don't need the car to flex and the windshiled to break, especially in a unibody.

Others have answered the school question. This school covers a bit more of the basics and the EVO school does. EVO school teaches what I call 'advanced basics'. The Local school teaches the simple basics. Slaloming, sweepers, and a practice course. (And something else too I think).

I remember getting yelled at to brake alot harder, so I think that was part of the instructions too.

Yes, this year I will not be yelling or telling people to 'give it up'.
