Default overboosting+too rich on cobb 2.5

but the weirdest thing is its been running great til recently. i put a helix tmic on to see if the map could handle it, but it ran way too rich at wot (doin the whole hiccuping thing) and went over 20psi. so i took it off, put the stocker back on and reset the ecu 3 times (yes, 3) and its still runnin rich and overboosting on wot (im hitting 19-20 psi on partial throttle 2nd-5th!). any ideas?

im confused, frustrated and about to sell the AP and ecu as a package and go with microtech...

It will do that for a few miles and then go back to normal. The ECU will take care of overboosting. Just make sure your egt's aren't too high.

well at least the egt's are normal, so i guess thats good. i put about 600 miles on it between resets, and i figured it would have worked itself out by then

Are you sure it's running too rich? What are you basing this statement on. My money is on lower pressure drop and cooler air-->higher boost (you observed) and detonation or lean mis-fires (you may be calling these hiccups).

Unless you have a wide band O2 sensor, I'd be very very careful doing what you are doin'.

im basing it on my narrowband a/f gauge. whenever i experienced the hiccups (yes, its past-tense for a reason, i'll explain later) my gauge was maxed, even going past its max rich point (bout 10 to 1 i suppose).

maybe youve misread, but my complaint is that it was still doing it AFTER i put the stock tmic back on. yes it was happening when the helix was on, but im not concerned as it was an experiment.

but i do have an update as to the problem....

what a difference it makes when one installs the airbox correctly! apparently the side of the box closest to the engine(where the air inlet connects) wasnt seated properly, and had a 1/2 inch gap across that whole seam. i guess the higher velocity air that was bypassing the filter through this hole was throwing the maf readings off, thinking more air was comin in than there actually was.

since the fix, im getting on slight hiccups during 2nd and 3rd gear, under wot, or a quick downshift then wot (not able to compensate for the pressure spike?) but im sure this will go away as well when the ecu finishes learning.

but of course this still doesnt explain why i hit 23psi in 5th at about 4000 rpm in wot before backing off, i dunno how high it woulda went.....

as in the tee-d line that connects the wastegate to the solenoid? i have and they seemed ok, buts its kinda like the solenoid isnt bleeding the extra air, so maybe the noid went bad...
