Post Kinda OT, but there's a Skyline driving around Schaumburg

Around five this afternoon on Golf Rd. It's an older model, white with a black (cf?) hood. It's got Oregon plates, and black stickers on the door with the number 10 and Speedtrial USA.

Yeah,

I've seen a Skyline R32 a couple times on I-90. I think that one belongs to one of the guys that use to own Speed Sport since they were the Midwest dealers for Motorex.

There's also a R33 Skyline around Chicago too.

Trunk Rack on the back of the Skyline????

That would be a funny site since you would have to double strap that bike and then some for the wicked launches that car is capable of. hehe

Hey people-

I was lurking around in the background today and came across this thread.

FYI- Yes, I own the white 1992 Nissan Skyline GT-R with the Electra Dry Carbon vented hood that some of you have seen in Chicago. Although, many people have been seeing this car all over the USA since I had just come back from a two day race in the southeast (www.onelapofamerica.com) and had driven the car from LA to Florida then back to Chicago. I did bring it to the IDRC Finals for the first runs on the motor, and we promptly broke third gear on the first day of the two day event- still making the final 16 on the second day for the Street Tire Finals shifting 1-2-4, where we snagged a 12.9@116mph (on 18" Michelins, not drag radials). The reason you haven't seen it isn't because of the weather- it's actually getting a full rollcage custom built in Wisconsin to my specifications. We're also finishing up on many engine and suspension tuning issues that came up on our maiden shakedown run that kept us from full boost of 22PSI (more like 11PSI)- and we should be running at full strength by the time One Lap comes around. Pretty stout for a 5400 mile race!

Hmm... about a trunkrack on a silver BNR32 in the Chicago area... not that I'm aware of- and I'm pretty much aware of all the GT-Rs east of the Mississippi. There's one midnight purple BCNR33 in Schaumburg, privately imported by the owner and DOT/EPA certified by MotoRex, there's one white BNR32 in Maryland also certified by MotoRex, there's one silver BCNR33 Orlando, FL also certified by MotoRex(that, of all things, we "bumped" into during our trip down there- a most surreal experience if I had ever been in one), I think one car in NYC, and rumors of an illegally imported, non certified BCNR33 in Miami. That's it for "our side" of the US. And, if any of you have non DOT/EPA compliant self imported cars I would not be too vocal about it- they tend to crush 'em if they find them. I've seen the notice- they sent one to me before we ironed it out by showing them the documentation...

However, I do buy bike stuff- both of the motorized and self propelled variety... And if you guys don't know why SpeedSport closed, let me say this- a former sales employee is currently being prosecuted by the State for several Counts of Felony Forgery- all stemming from SpeedSport's bank accounts. Thanks to all who supported us in the past, and I hope to see y'all at the local circuit tracks this summer!
