Rays lists 17x8.0 +44; 235/45-17 as the recommended size in 17's, with a footnoted warning of possible rubbing on front fender.
But on another page 17x8.5 +50 is listed as compatible with GDB Brembos. Edit: I meant 17x8.5 not 17x7.5 on the second size, sorry Last edited by flyinpig; 03-31-2005 at 09:49 AM. |

yah i saw that page but i dont think it is updated because the 17x8.5 5x114.3 50mm offset just recently came out?? on the rim it says made in 2004-12...
can i use the bridgestone 225 45 17 (stock 05 sti) on bridgstones site it said the stock tire can fits on a 7-8.5in rim. or should i go with a wider size like maybe 235 or 245 but then i am also worried about rubbing issues i also dont want to go lower than a 45 series |

Oops I made a typo in my previous post. The list shows 17x8.5; +50 5x114.3 to be compatible with GDB Brembos (not 7.5") Sorry about that. You can fit the stock tires on the 8.5's as 225/45-17's. Like you said they normally fit 7.0-8.5" wide rims. I dont think you will rub with 235s..not sure of 245s though. I know you said no lower than 45 profile, but have you considered 235/40-17 (8-9.5" width)? Lower gearing, a bit skinner sidewall.. Last edited by flyinpig; 03-31-2005 at 11:47 AM. |

if you have a 05, I would tell you to try the +44 better... you have the fender's to cover them up and the +44 wont look sunk in like the 50 would. for a 8.5" wheel, I think +50 is a bit much and you will sacrifice the tire size because the wheel will be REALLY close to the strut. Also, 235s looked wrapped and a little stretched on 8.5s... I have that setup currently. So take that into consideration. I plan to go at least 255s soon, but will try 265s with rolled fenders.
