Default low boost what gives????

This is my second thread about having boost problems. I am running AP stage2 93oct with all correct supporting mods. I was hitting 7.6psi in all gears, I have checked all hoses and fittings and etc over and over. Got a new boost solenoid the other day and got on it and...1stgear 9.1psi, 2ndgear 11.1psi, then shut it down(UGGGGH). Anyone have any other suggestions on what the problem could be? Probably just gonna take it to the dealership and pay someone for something that could possibly be an easy fix. HELP!!!!

Matt

This is a known problem with the AP. Check on the Cobb forums (www.wrxforum.com) and also there's the "HWG" map which you can try for pushing the wastegate harder to see if that helps your boost.

Yea I have had this problem posted up over there for a while now. The hwg map is another option but everyone acts like it is really really dangerous is this true and why?

What do you mean by "shut it down"? Did the motor shut down? Like hitting fuel cut? Maybe you have a gauge problem instead of a boost problem.

No, by shut it down I mean I just let off the gas!!! The only guage I have is the AP itself and I dont think its wrong. Any other help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have less of an issue after an install I haven't figured it out yet. I easily hit 16psi before installing an STI uppipe and Deadbolt ported TD-04, now only 14psi. Man I just can't find a leak. If that STI uppipe is leaking it's a quiet leak.

Can I buy small OEM style vacuum hoses clamps at the local auto stores? (I don't want to just tie wrap them)

Loaded the stage2 93oct hwg map the other night and have put about 40 miles on it since the flash. Did a few freeway pulls and I was hitting approxx 11.0psi in 3rd and 13.2psi in 4th. Sounds about 4psi off to me, what do you guys think? I know the ecu has to learn but does this sound about right considering how many miles I have on it? I will test it out again after a 100 miles or so. ThANKS

OK, you need some basic boost control knowledge and then I think you'll solve your own problem pretty quick.

What are all the components of your boost control system?
1) solenoid (you mentioned that, what kind? 2-way, 3-way, any info on airflow capacity?)
2) tube from turbo compressor
3) restrictor 'pill' in this tube? yes? no? don't know?
4) T-fitting?
5) tube to actuator
6) where is the solenoid in this whole mess? like stock? like Mike? None of the above?
7) tube to intake
8) do you have any, I mean any computer control over the solenoid valve's activity

I'll check back tomorrow. PS I don't use Cobb, don't know Cobb, don't like Cobb, but with any luck your prob has no Cobb in it. I do like Cobb salad
