Thumbs up Central IL rallycross weekend update!

Alright, here's a link to a "quick-and-dirty" website with some information about the rally weekend that is being planned for near Champaign, IL on June 8 & 9.

http://www.geocities.com/il_rally_info/index.html

Right now, we're trying to get a rough idea of how many folks would be interested in coming, so we can look for a good room rate at a local hotel.

Please use the link on the site to send your information, and we'll see ya in June!

Mike

P.S. Nick, could you sticky this please? Thanks...

There was some talk on another list about making this some kind of MW Subaru meet of sorts. That would take some organizational skills I don't posess of course. I'm definitely going to the rallyx, don't know if I can make the TSD as well though.

Phil:

I had talked about a MW Subaru meet, and was kind of thinking that we could incorporate that into the Saturday evening before the rallycross. That way, we'd already have the folks that want to run the TSD, and others can make their way to the hotel on Saturday. If things work out, the hotel will be in Monticello, which is about four miles from the rallycross site. We're working with the TSD folks to have the rally end at the restaurant right in front of the hotel as well, so everyone would know where to be...

Keep checking back to the website, as I'll be updating as frequently as I can.

TTT.

Hey Mr. 8Complexmanguy... can we get a sticky for this?

This should be a ton of fun. I'll bet you get a huge turn out for both the TSD and the rally x.

Of course, it's a shame that I'll have to take my class in both... You guys will have fun trying to catch me, though.

Matt.

I've got a set of Racelines with some snow tires on them... If someone would let me rally-x their car with them I'd glady loan them my wheels and tires for the day...

My car will be sold before this happens and well I might not have my replacement.. I'd like to attend.

Question TSD Rally?

Is the TSD Rally all off road, on road or both?

It is technically all on public roads, but I've been told to expect some of them to "barely" be roads. I take this to mean that there will be a fair share of gravel and dirt...

So if your car is setup for mainly fast street driving this might not be thr best event to drive in?

Let me check with the folks organizing it. I don't imagine there will be anything too rough, but I'll verify that. They have people run these events in all sorts of cars (one guy even used to run a camper!), so they have to be concious of that fact.

I'll let you know when I find something out.

i'm still interested in this, its a ways out so i'll have to check dates when the time is closer.

right now i've been trying to find that white (or clear) stuff the wrap new cars with for dilevery, to protect my paint from the gravel rallycross. If i can find some at a decent price, or if anyone else can find some, let everyone know!

AHHHHH!!!!!!! MY HOMETOWN IS MONTICELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The gravel pit is right over by my buddy's house. This is so damn cool!!!! I'm there, don't know about running my car though, i'm not good enough at manual quite yet. I'm definitely in for any kind of meet though. There is a park not even a mile down the road for you that may have r/v's. I think it's like ten bucks for the night per group. A good friend works there so I'll ask him.

Mark:

Not to sound dumb or anything, but do you really think that sort of thing is necessary? It seems to me that a decent set of mudflaps will keep any gravel thrown by your wheels off your paint, and I don't expect to have cars parked close enough to the course for there to be a threat from other cars.

I guess I'm just not sure what you are protecting your car from...

HA ha.

After three seasons of rallycrossing I don't have stone chip damage. I blew out my shocks, but that's a whole other matter.
