Default 2.5 RS harness for a 1.8

Can I use a 2.5 RS wiring harness on a 1.8 engine? I don't care if it runs poor, it is temporary.

No, I mean put the 2.5 on the 1.8. An STI block is going in there soon and I just want to start messing around with the LINK ECU I bought. I bought it for the 2.5 harness because I already have the 2.5 RS harness modified for the STI block.

Well,
The 2.5RS harness won't plug into your 1.8l ECU. If you do this conversion, you will need to use the 2.5 ECU. And if it is a MY00 or newer, you will need to take out the MAF and put in a MAP...

Do you need the harness or you already have it?

I already have the harness and the ECU from the 2.5. My car is a 94. will the 2.5 ecu and harness run my 1.8? The harness has already been modified to fit a ej2.5 turbo STI block.

The lack of responses may mean that the idea is not the greatest. I know "I" wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.....

Insane or just not thinking smart?

Suggestion: How about collect all your parts before you start the swap.....

What do you mean collect all of my parts? They are sitting in my garage. I just can't have my car out of commission for more then a weekend. This summer I have about a week but I want as much done as possible before then.

Unless you are a wiring master, that part alone will have your car down for more than a weekend. Find a $300 civic or rabbit in the local paper and drive it for a month while you put your car together. Then sell the beater...

Well Matt, if anyone can tell me it would be you. Can a 2.5 harness and ECU run a 1.8?
