Piggy back for EJ16 ..!!!
first.. i am going to introduce myself.. this is my first post!!..
my name is bruce.. i am from argentina.. PD: sorry about my poor english!
well.. the thing is that i am making an EJ16 turbo project..
searching in the internet I found that the most common solution for "piggy backing" is to use the Apexi Super AFC .. or the GReddy eManage Unit..
well.. the emanage it is still for me (a newbie) quite difficoult to install.. and all the laptop.. harness kitt.. and timing it is not of my interest now..
so i thought that the Apexi could solve my problem..
but i downloaded an "compatibiliy" chart...
and my engine is not in the list!!! ... (ej18 neither)
but.. i`ve read in this forum that someone with an ej18 installed one of those apexi.... so?
if someone knows.. please tell me if the apexi works on an ej16 or ej18 engine.. (1993 ecu)... and if not.. what piggy back can i use to modify the fuel/air ratio..

Emanage is a fairly universal piggyback computer as well as the Apexi SAFC. Basically it is just a matter of idenifying the ECU wires to go to each sensor/injector/etc.
EJ16 was never sold in the US so as far as anyone turboing that engine or setting up engine managment your not going to find much (if any) specific information.
Basically you need to find the shop manual for your model/year car. To be honest I have no idea where you would find that information being in Argentina. But you just need to compare the wires you need input/output to your shop manual.
Personally I would go the Emanage route it is rather difficult but the Apexi SAFC only modifys the fuel map and does not change the timing and you will likely damange the engine in the long run by going turbo.
