Default wrx maf in a v5 swap

i wanted to use a perrin intake for my v5 and i wanted to know if i could use a wrx maf. the size of the stock intake to the perrin, the stock is like 4 inches wide and the perrin is like 3 inches wide. would that have any effect on the ecu? -dave-

Sensor is the same as a 99 RS, MAF tube is different. WRX MAF will not work.
