Default Simple question....

....do i have to have a wideband o2 to get a proper tune with the UTEC? I know I need the wideband just want to know if I need it right now. Thanks!

if you are tuning it yourself then i think it would be very helpful, so that you'll be sure your a/f ratio is good...

i know i need it eventually, but i can't afford to do both the utec and a wideband right now. so i was thinking if i just used the preset maps for the utec i would be ok a/f wise. is that true?

Every car will be slightly different and unless you have the exact mods listed for the map and nothing else, there's no way to know for sure that your AFR's are on target. If you have an EGT gauge and plan on running the off-the-shelf maps, then that should be sufficient to monitor how the car is handleing the map. Maybe you can find someone who will lend you their WB for a couple pulls to verify AFR's. I have access to just that and it's saved me buying the LM-1. Looks like the LC-1 is going to be the WB of choice for tuning now though so I might be buying one sooner than later. Check out the thread here
