Default A new (2004+) 22B STi?

A friend of mine was out cruising on Saturday night and he ran across a guy in a white Impreza with blue stripes and matching powder-coated USDM STi style BBS wheels.

When he talked to the guy, he told him that it was a 22B that he had imported. Supposedly it had to be registered in Canada. He also got one for his friend who is in Ohio.

My friend also reported that the car is left hand drive, supposedly 417hp stock and is .5" wider than a stock STi. It's straight from STi (a Stage II he says) and apparently 11/371.

I have done tons of researching on US, UK, Japanese, Austrailian, and German web sites. I cannot find any information that would help me believe this. What really seems fishy to me is the LHD, USDM style wheels, and the odd number of production (371).

They are supposed to be out again next Saturday (4/23/2005) and I will be bringing my camera. If they show, I'll be back with pics. In the mean time, anyone know anything?

Nope, try again. 22B had only 1500 copies made and all were blue. This guy has a body kit and either converted to RHD or had a RHD impreza imported... nothing more.

I'm not talking about the 98 GC8 one. I'm talking about a new one GDB that looks like the current Impreza/STi.

I can't stand posers....damn it...you should find him and smash his head in the drivers door repeatedly....
On the other hand he could be an idiot who over paid for a kitted out WRX....believing that it was a new 22B.

Well, he didn't feed me a line, he fed my friend a line.

My friend knows his **** though. Not just about cars in general, but limited and special editions too and he seems convinced. That's why I even bothered to start looking for some info which eventually lead me to post here after finding nothing.

I guess we'll see in 2 weeks... :|

427 22B's were produced. I believe the first 3 were numbered 001. Anyway, this guy is full of crap. There is no 417hp Subaru, no new age 22B, and the guy was probably a giant tool, or just messing with your friend.

I can't even count the number of people who have turbos that are invisible.

I guess what I am trying to say is either this guy is lying to your face, or is an idiot who paid too much for a rhd wrx.

it is possible that he got a s202 or something like that, but it wouldn't be widebody factory, and it wouldn't be that high hp factory either.

This is also a lie. Cars from overseas cannot be imported into Canada unless they are over 10 (or 15? I'm really not sure) years old...its Canada customs law.

Was the original post changed? The original says LHD and several people have gone on to comment about RHD.

Nope, I didn't change it, people read it wrong. One of the reasons I even questioned that it was a 22B was that it was LHD.

Maybe it was one of those fake mini coopers that can't park, can't turn, and explodes when you crash. Try checking fakemini.com to see if the car your friend saw is in there.

I can't think of any 22B that was LHD, and I can't think of any subaru worth importing that is not RHD.

I think I'd trust the information on this board over what any friend of a friend believes to be true.

The car also had an Ontario plate that read "1badwrx" -- Anybody know the guy? Regardless of what the car was, it was pretty nice looking and quite fast too.

Ignorance is bliss I guess. The 22b that I sat in and popped the hood of, was indeed RHD, as are ALL.
