Question fuel injector questions

If an injector is rated at 30lb/hr, is it possible to calculate the corresponding "cc's" (e.g. 550cc injectors, etc.)?

THe reason I ask is that Summit racing sells injectors that are pretty cheap, but some of them are for Mustangs. You can get a set of 8 30lb/hr injectors for $216. They also have 540cc Blitz injectors for $70 each.

Yeah, I know, Ford, blasphemy, etc. But that's dirt cheap if they are of any reasonable flow rate.

edit: never mind - [lbs/hr] * 10.5 = [cc/min] (from www.rceng.com)
so these are 315cc/min injectors

Ack.. a stock WRX 440cc injector is roughly 42lb/hr. Stay far away from the Mustang injectors.

I've heard several different scenarios and haven't had a chance to prod around under my hood long enough to verify. You may want to look into the stock MKIV supra injectors as a replacement option. They are 550cc side feed injectors from Denso. I'm still not sure if the WRX uses side feed or not.

Impedance of the injector is also a factor. Someone else care to re-has this topic as I never can keep it straight in my head.

The injectors look like top feed. Yep, they sure do. Thank God. Side feeds are so expensive and it is difficult to do replacement rails for them in many cases. I just ordered 6 nismo 550 cc/min injectors for my SVX. $1200 bucks. What a setback. But what can you do. you need fuel to make power.

I presume the SVX injectors are side-feed? If so, you probably could have gotten away with EJ25 or EJ20T injectors for a lot less money. Unless you have a 600 hp target for the SVX that requires six of those huge injectors?

Default RS injectors in an SVX

I did a lot of checking and these nismos and a few others were the only ones that would fit. I would love to try this though. Got any old ones you are trying to get rid of? The SVX ones are Jecs 260 cc/min.

The WRX uses top feed high impedance injectors for 2002. Previous WRX's's used side feed high impedance. Not sure why they switched, but this makes it now very hard to find suitable replacements. I see no reason yet why the STi units won't work (they are 520cc, compared to the stock US WRX which is 420 cc). Will konow later this month when we fit them to a car.

Adam - thanks as always for being one of the only tunners to share the knowledge wealth with us all. . . .

I have been doing lots of re-inventing the wheel on this injector issue . . . this is what I've found out - - some tunner guy in PA is puuting some 550 denso's from a 98-99 jap spec RX 7 that are to feed on his car - - no one knows yet if they fit or not . . . .

In the meantime - I ASSUME (you know what they say about people who ass ume) that teh new age STI injectors will fit - - but as the STI looks to NOT have a tumble generator - - ?? Then who knows if they really fit - -

I ordered 4 STI injectors and will have them by weeks end

I will post and let everyone know the deal

If you want to buy them its $200.00 per from Jan Shim - OR - 115.00 pounds from Graham Goode - either way like three weeks to get

it would be nice if some generous person out there would let us know that part number on the RX7 injectors that fot so we could save some $$$

Finally - Adam so you have the part number for the supra fuel pump???

PS adam - when will the guages be ready???

The FD sereies RX7 ones won't work...they are side feed to the best of my knowledge, low impedance. If he is doing this though (and it's who I think itis), he is also using an Autronics Engine Management system (OZ equivalent of the TEc2), so te ecu probably doesn't care which impedace he uses (though not sure how he intends to mount side feed units on a top feed rail...that wold be an engineering masterpiece!)

I think you might be mistaken on the T2 units, as they are (I thought at least) also low impedance..this is the common mod for DSM'ers on a budget - find a T2 that isn't running and buy the injectors (not hard to do, given the T2's limited life span, though I love 'em anyway). I have the Denso part number laying around someplace, as well as the full listing of Bosc OEMu units, their flow and impedance rating (we just wnt through trying to source 720 cc Bosch units for my ZX)
Took a while but we got 'em.

Al - which tumbler are you referring to? In the fuel rail? Have you had it apart yet (I haven't).

We get Supra pumps in almost every week....I can get one easily by Wednesday Al.

Gauges were shipped from Japa, just awaiting delivery!
