I saw this over on another forum, and thought I would give it a shot. I hadn't seen anyone post about it here, so i thought I would.
I got the product from www.duffmanaudio.com ...i had to ask for the amp rack portion, and it cost slightly extra, fyi. I'm very happy with the way it came out. The sub box is also easily removable for you autox guys. The speaker wire connectors are also side specific, so if you remove the sub you won't reverse polarity when you reinstall it. First thing to do is remove the wing nut that holds the spare down. Then you flip that gold cap washer thing, and install the 13mm bolt provided to hold the spare down. you gotta keep a 13mm tool in the car to get the bolt out if you get a flat. I keep a whole set in the car, so no worries here ![]() Here is the portion that is to become my amp rack...it's at least 1/2 inch thick, and carpeted well. The box fits very snugly into the spare tire well...i think you need to specify if you have a WRX or an STI for the different size spares, but I know if you have a WRX one he can send you spacers to fit the sti spare. ![]() With the box and rack in, you place the false floor over both. The false floor has a flap in the rear to cover the amp rack from the back too....you can kinda make it out in this pic. I don't have a passthrough, so it didn't matter much to me. Seems to cover up the wires well though. ![]() Here is a shot of the rear of the grills you can use to cover your stuff up. The false floor is chamfered (if that's the word for it), so that the covers sit into their spots, and velcro holds them in place. Air still gets through with the cut-outs. ![]() Here are a few finished shots. ![]() ![]() The box i got is for a 12W6V2...it sits almost flush with the trunk latch...mayb e 2 or 3 inches of clearence there...i'm sure a box for a 10 or an 8 would be even better becuase it would sit lower. Not complaining though, I have much more useable trunk space with this setup. Yay me...i finally have a stereo setup in my trunk that won't fly around when i'm driving like a madman.

Awesome setup. Is there plenty of room for the amps to dissipate heat with the cover on? Or is the cover vented somehow?

if you look at the cover you can see that it has two cut-out for air to pass through...haven't driven much with the cover on, but so far, so good. |

Yeah I saw the cutouts, I just wasn't sure if the carpet would let air through, as opposed to grill cloth or something like that.

Makes me wish they made one for the older body style. I really need to get out and fiberglass up an enclosure for my sub in the spare tire. I have NO trunk space right now. The box and amp rack come almost up to where the trunk lid starts off the rear deck.
My biggest problem is my amp. 13" x 19 7/8" x2". It's a hoss. It's never gotten much more than just mildly warm, even after hours of running, on hot days, with the stereo cranked on a highway drive, so I'm hoping it'll be ok to put it between the back seat and the back of the trunk, cause I'm not sure there's much room to put it in a false floor, with a spare tire sub. |

If you didn't care about having a spare wouldn't this whole set up be able to sit about 6 inches or more lower? If so for the price they want this is a real bargain package IMHO.
