Default UTEC Stage 2 Issue

What should I do here...

I install my UTEC with stage 2 in my car and when the utec takes over my car builds boost but is extremely slow.. probably too much fuel.. But I don't have the ABC that comes with the UTEC anyone know how to fix this issue.. I have tried both closed and open loop boost modes and still no resolution... is there another setting that I have to change?

Thanks in advance!

You need to follow the directions in the manual. It specifically states you need the ABC. You also need to tune your boost map as the basemaps just have 300 in each location.

Read the UTEC manual in detail, and also Mick's tuning guide (Mick the Ginge).

Lots of people don't use abc's. What kinda boost are you getting with the basemap? If it's below 16.5psi, then raise the boost value(from 300 in every spot above 20%tps) maybe 25 at a time til you get the boost you want. Ya might also wanna try lowering the gain to 48 or something too.

I actually have a MBC on it right now.. you think I should run stock solenoid? until I get the ABC from the previous owner? My MBC is set at 16 psi.

IMHO the more variables you throw in, without knowing exactly what you are doing and what affect it has, the more chance you have of messing something up. That's my though process anyway, keep it simple, and keep to the TurboXS way of doing things with the stock maps and parameters. Once you get that nailed, then you can start tweaking and changing things around! I'd go with the stock solenoid and get the ABC in there (as Hippy says it's not needed in some cases as the car will reach the desired boost without it, but since they say that's it's required, might as well do it), then you can read the manual and Micks guide and it will make sense. Make sure you are using the constant parameters file with the new maps for 4.2c firmware as it changed when they brought out the 4.2c firware. Also the stock TurboXS basemaps I believe are tuned for 93 octane.

If you're using an mbc alone and still have the problem, then it's obviously not boost related. What are your other mods?

so I hooked up everything like factory.. except the ferrel that goes in the hose between the solenoid and the T. and I didn't build anymore than 7lbs of psi. so is my solenoid bad?

actually just got done reading the UTEC quick guide and it says that I don't have to use the UTEC to control boost. So would I just change all the boost setting to ecu? I ordered all the vac hoses and connectors today. that should fix the stock problem!

7psi is wastegate pressure.. bet you flip flopped a hose.

You could definately use an mbc if you want to. The problem isn't with the hoses, it's what's in them. There should be a little brass restrictor in the small hose going from the turbos compressor nipple to the T fitting. Dosage was trying to say that you might have put the hoses back the wrong way with the brass restrictor in the small hose on the wrong side of the t fitting. Do a search for "brass and restrictor" if you have any questions. This is all mute if you are just gonna use your mbc.

How do I hook it up with my MBC and not use the stock solenoid?
Do I have to disable boost settings on the UTEC and if so how do I do that?

Just take the hoses off the turbo and roll them up(tie them) under the bcs cover. Use two new hoses, and put them from the turbo to mbc in the right order.......

the stage 2 cars, most recent with base maps
from txs were abit on the rich side 10.5 at redline
so if your base map is an earlier version it could
be even richer.

did you check all your hoses around manifold
and tmic?

basically the timing..
after tuning enough customer cars.
the base maps need some timing adjustment in the 2k to 3k rpms

Make sure you're using the right parameters and map........ The mbc has nothing to do with it, but you might wanna tie off the long hose going to your bcs in case it's letting air into the intake. Ya might also wanna look into a bad ground somewhere or a air leak between the turbo and throttle body(like a leaky bov).

peace
