Legacy Regional "wanted:" 195/60-15 all-season tires

Hey guys. Yeah I know, I'm posting a lot lately. I've got things for sale, I've got things broken, my weekend was a mess.

Well.... here's something I need, too.

Turns out the old Nokian Hakka 1s I had my wife's car on for the winter are in worse shape than I'd hoped. I was going to pick up some 16" wheels for the car, and slap my old Dunlop SP9000s on it for the season. However, the wife informed me that she really wants to get rid of the car by fall, so she doesn't want to invest mods into it.

Therefore, don't need the wheels, the 16" tires are for sale, and we're on the prowl for 195/60-15s for the '95 Legacy LS.

Probably going to buy something new, but if anyone's got some a/s tires in that size, in good shape, buying used isn't a problem. (So long as they're safe and have lots of tread left.) Thanks-

=S2=

Thumbs up

I have a set of 195/60/15 Cooper Cobra A/S tires in my basement with probably half the tread left. I can probably take some pics tonight if you want.

That'd be great. We basically just need them to be reliable, safe tires for another 6-12 months.
They any good in rain/snow?

1/2 tread might be a little less than I want... but I'll take a look.

Any others?

They seemed fine in the rain - never used them in the snow though. They came on the '99 L I had and I only drove on them for about a month before I got WRX wheels/RE92s. I'll dig them out and snap some pics for you tonight. If you want them they are yours gratis if we can work out meeting.

Wow, cool. My wife'll like that kind of purchase.

Not sure where you're at in VA (I'm definitely in BFE PA ), but I typically come down Rt. 15 to the border.... depends where you're at, though.

How close are you to Martinsburg, WV or Hagarstown, MD? I work in Martinsburg.

84mi. from WV...
65mi. from MD.

Straight shot down I-81, nearly. Drove that way up from Columbia, SC last year. Western VA is quite pretty. Though you're only in WV for about four minutes. MD too, I guess.

Here are pics of one of them, but the pictures suck . Sorry. All of them are in the same condition. These sat out in my driveway for about 10 days last June (just so you know and if that matters to you).

Hagarstown would work if you want them.

Hmmmmmm yeah I guess it's kinda hard to tell by those pics. Bummer...

Well....... you said they were about half worn, but also said you only put 4k or so on them before you got the RE92 16"s. So you bought the car used with these already on there? Because otherwise you bought the tires new and only used 'em for 4k, which means they're WAY less than half worn.

Treadwear looks decent but yeah hard to tell. No rotting or anything though right? So long as they're safe for a year or so, that'll do.

They supposedly had about a year of use before I bought the car and I put less than 1000 miles on them. No rot or anything, just a little dirty. Sorry the pics are so bad.

No it's okay man, I didn't have a decent digicam until Christmas.

Well so long as you think the treads still look pretty good. If they're super shallow I don't want them, but that very top pic seems to show that they look pretty good.

What's a good day to meet up? Want me to come down there or do you want to meet in the middle somewhere? Let me know what's good for you. I work M-F 12-8pm.

How soon do you want them? I could meet one morning around 10 or 11 in Hagarstown if that works.

Well I need them ASAP I guess.... There's a guy at a shop down the road from us that will mount/balance them for I think $10ish per tire, which doesn't seem bad.

Here's the thing, though: my Impreza's at the dealership getting the alarm issue fixed (if you saw my other thread). Hopefully it'll be done today, and I can pick it up tonight or tomorrow morning early. If that's the case, then I can drive that down to meet you. Don't want to drive the Legacy long distances, on the donut.

So IF the car's done by then, how's tomorrow morning at around 10am? That could work for me I think. Should only take me like 40 minutes or so to get there, I guess.
Give me a good meeting spot (McDonalds or some parking lot will work) and I will let you know later today, after the dealer updates me.

You guys could meet at the Centre at Hagerstown. Its a new shopping center off of exit 6A/B in Hagerstown where US40 crosses I-81. There's a McD's, Borders, and a ton of other stuff out there. Only about half a mile from the highway and just a few miles into Maryland.

Either tomorrow or Friday morning at 10:00 will work for me. It only takes me a few minutes to get up there from work. The Borders at the exit Matt mentions will work. I am pretty sure I can find that easily.

Hmm, oops I forgot that it's 65mi. I was thinking 45 for some reason... So, yeah it'll be an hour's drive I guess.

Tomorrow should be fine, I'll be there unless something else comes up. I'll keep you posted about the Impreza.

Drop me a PM please with your cell # and I'll give you mine too. Borders is perfect.
If I can make it tomorrow, it'll be the white RS sedan with the coupe spoiler and black mudflaps.

Okay, the dealership called, the car's fixed. Apparently there were several problems with the alarm system, including a missing (entirely broken!!) Reprogramming button, and a bent harness.
Lovely!

Sooooo I'll be picking up the car tonight or tomorrow morning. Should be all set, Gray.

My wife's pretty excited about having new(er) tires.

Probably because she's had to roll on the donut for like four days, now.

Sucks that the other ones are dead.... or at least one is. They're my old Nokian Hakka 1s. Great tires, but five seasons old so I guess it's their time. One was leaking from the treads.
