Default Falken GRB FK451 or Hankook Ventus R-S2?

im getting new tires and narrowed down to these 2 choices. i dont have experience with either set of tires so i want u guy's opinion. i've heard alot of good things abt the Falkens from the ppl on this board, but never considered Hankook tires until the R-S2 came out and everybody is all over this tire. i know the FK451 is up there with the max performance tires, but alot of ppl has been comparing the R-S2 with the Azenis RT-215 as if they're straight competitors. this made me think that the R-S2 might be better than the FK-451 since the Azenis RT-215 is the big brother of the FK-451? all i care abt is traction, both dry and wet. FYI i've had SO3s, SO2s, pilot sports, Azenis, and Goodyear F1 GD3S on my car b4. and so far i like the SO3s the best since they provided excellent dry AND wet traction. so which ever tire performs closer to the SO3s would be my pick. any input is welcome!

actually a couple people ran these tires in the Atlanta (divisional?) event that just happened this past weekend. i believe i read somewhere that one guy liked the hankooks over the older azenis 215's. but the response isn't as good as the azenis but maybe overall they liked it better.

also, the 451s suck for autoX unless you shave them. i have the 451s and transitioning very fast in the car sucks. steady state grip however, is a almost as good as the azenis.

so knowning what i know now, i would've gone with the hankooks.

i would get the st115, better wear and still ultra high performance but its all personal preference and what you are going to use them for.

....there is NO mention of any autox, anywhere, in the original post....

...the 451 is, most likely, a superior street tire for mixed conditions......and wear.

Buy the RS2, try them and tell us what you think. We will all love you for it.

I've got a set of the R-S2's on my OBS, and am loving them. I got them in a 215/45-16 on stock WRX rims for auto-x use and after driving them on the street for about a week to scrub them in, I'm really liking them. I had an auto-x this past weekend, and they worked quite well, better than the RE-950's I used last year. I think I'll probably end up keeping them on for summer use, the gearing difference isn't bad enough to bother me around town or on the highway yet. And I've been through a couple good downpours w/ no problems traction wise.

Sounds like the Hankooks people were auto-xing on were shaved as well.
