Have a Nice Day? Code p1133 -help

I have a 99 OBS with the CEL on and throwing code p1133. After searching this forum I see that most people think this means that the front o2 sensor is bad, but there isnít any definitive information. Is there anything else that could be causing this code? Money is tight right now so I would like to avoid either buying the o2 sensor and finding out it wasn't the problem or paying the dealer bid bucks to diagnose and treat the problem.

Thanks,
Grinning

You know what, I just checked the factory service manual to see what the possible problems could be, and p1133 doesn't even seem to be in the list. Sure that's it, or did you get a number wrong somewhere?

I am sure that it is p1133. I am looking at one of the printouts now. I have at it checked, rechecked and rechecked again because each time they tell me the same code, but a different meaning.

Thanks,

I've got it on my 2000 OBS just about 10 miles after changing to a WRX catback. The printout also had the code HO2S along with the number. The bad thing is that is is a constant failure and will not turn off.

Do a search for P1133 and you'll find a mess of stuff about it.

Replacing the front O2 sensor cured my Cel. The light went out after about 5 miles of driving. What's better is that the power of the engine is much better along with really good throttle response. After one tank of fuel my average was 24.5 mpg where it had been 22.5 for the last month or so. Feels like a different car.

My car is a 2000 OBS EJ22 $eat. The front sensor is a Denso 234-9018 that I got from Sparkplugs.com for $99.71 + shipping.

Looks like that site needs some updating.

Per this site:

I have to ask...Front sensor or rear sensor?

I have a Brullen header and exhaust system with 1 high flow cat and I'm throw this code as well. I'm triing to figure out if its a bad slice job or ???. For my system the front and rear senors had to be lengthened.

Thanks for your help!

Just don't tell these guys who've yanked P1133's out of their ECU's, then.

I'd put my money on it being a front O2 sensor failure.
