Default Calgary - Where to buy summer tires

Time for some high performance tires! Im looking at the Toyo T1S or Falken FK 451 in 215/45/17.
First off, is anyone selling new or slightly used 17s? worth a shot.
Tiretrends.com has some decent pricing but are all out of the T1S.
Where in Calgary is the best place to buy tires, does anyone pricematch?

You might want to check out the BFG KDW TA available from the tirerack.com

That's what my next set will be. I realize I didn't answer your question but my last set came from E-town.

Give MyTires.ca a call. I heard they have very competitive prices.

Sent a request for a quote over two weeks ago. Have yet to hear a response. Will not be doing business with that kind of customer service.

Mytires.ca just moved locations at the end of March. I'm not defending their response time, but it might be part of the reason they haven't replied to y'all. Also, they're not exactly a high-tech shop. I get the impression that it's 1-2 guys and a big room full of tires...

That is exactly what mytires.ca is, a couple guys and a shop full of tires. Very good to deal with. Not very good at email responses but if you call them I found they will answer your questions right there.

same here, i tried to email em, got no response. I went to the shop and they were very helpful. I came on the day they were mounting the sign above the door at the new location, so I had to leave out the back, and they had all sorts of tires and cars in the bay. He did look a bit overwhelmed with trying to get his ***** together for the new location though.

I got my ecsta supras @ a place called "tireland" in the south, near chinook mall. Good prices, and remember "cash is king"

MyTires qouted me $177/tire for the Falken FK451 in 215/45/17, not bad for such a great tire.
The Toyo T1R came to be $244/tire.

sorry if this is a hi jack but I didn't want to start my own thread...but half of it is related to the topic... for you guys in calgary, I'm making a trip over on the 26th-ish and bringing my car, my cousin who used to live there said I might want to put my all-seasons back on due to occasional icy areas but I would think that it would have warmed up enough for summer tires to be fine... suggestions? I'm staying for a week by the way.. also, any recommendations on things to do while I'm there? (bowling/paint ball/go karting??) I stayed there for a bit last year but spent nearly all of my time working downtown..

if the local hockey team is still in the playoffs you should go see a calgary hitmen game.
as for the tires. i would put the all seasons on as some of the passes could still get snow this time of year. I grew up in those passes and there can be snow into mid may sometimes.
i am heading through the Rogers pass on April 28. going houseboating on shuswap lake.

My tires is the best!!!! I have bought three sets of tires from them. I agree the customer service could be better but their prices have always been the best I have found. I found if you call or go to the shop to get prices it works better then emailing them. I think they are pretty busy and with the move I can see how things get behind.

I've also bought tires from Anand at My Tires, and I'm pretty happy.

My initial customer service impressions were similar - I emailed twice about some Kumho winter tires and received no response.

We drove to Calgary, fully expecting to buy tires elsewhere. I stopped in at MyTires (almost gave it a miss - their old shop looked like a small office in a strip mall), chatted with Anand and he set me up with the tires I wanted at a better price than anywhere else. He also seems keen on tires and rallying - they sponsor an Impreza in one of the Canadian rally circuits, I believe.
They are a small operation - it was Anand and one other guy in the back.

On the way home I *blew* one of the brand new tires (200km on it - we were in the middle of Kootenay National Park on a dark November night). I didn't hit anything, the road was bare and dry - just BLAM! Right rear tire had a 1" gash in the sidewall.
Anand replaced it and re-mounted it at no cost, despite there being NO road hazard warranty on these tires. A less scrupulous tire shop person could've claimed that I hit a pothole or something (I didn't), and dinged me for a new tire.

I'll go back to My Tires again.

yeah i settled on a set of kymhos ecsta 711, getting a wicked price. i opted for the 711 instead of the supra 712 cause they are supposed to have better tread life, and look a little less ricey to me.
plus 100 bucks less than the 712's

I paid 205 per tire for my 245/40/17's from tiretrends.ca plus shipping of 12 per corner. Service is great and I'll buy my third set from them again.

Over at RS25.com one of the vendors is having a "clearance sale" on the Azenis Sport RT-215 Tires. The shipped price for a set of 225/45/17 to Calgary is $510 USD.
