Default Anyone (Calgary/Edmonton) looking for a '05 RS wagon (new)?

By new I mean NEW, as in, straight off the lot. My '05 RS wagon is being replaced under warranty and I am not sure I want to keep the replacement. If there is interest I may just park it in my garage until it is sold.

The car will have:
-Crystal Grey Metallic paint
-5MT
-Rear deck spoiler
-Cross bars for roof rails
-Mud guards
-3M paint protection on hood
-winter mats
-cargo bin (the one that folds up,not the spill tray)
-cargo net

also, I have a set of winter tires on 15" steel rims (Michelin X-ice) with 2 months of use on them (car has been out of commission for the last 2 months).

So, if you are interested or know someone who is interested...

Yeah, I've never heard of a dealership actually replacing a car.

There must be a good story in there.

I'll post more details once I pick up the car. Hopefully it will happen by Friday.

I haven't actually added up everything to come up with a price. However, it should be lower than anything that the dealership will sell for. Would your brother be interested in the accessories (Winter tires/rims, cargo bin, net, cross bars). You can also contact me at slo138_at_hotmail.com it you like.

Picked up the replacement car today. A couple of people were asking what happened to the last RS. Here is the original post that I made back in October of 2004 (1 week after picking up the car).

Basically:
-car stalled many times after shifting into neutral (or simply dis-engaging the clutch)
-Brought car back to dealership half dozen times (at least) without resolution.
-Contacted Subaru Canada (letter to warranty dept and CEO, etc)
-About 1 week later, Dealership took car in for testing while they gave me a '05 Legacy 2.5i (A request by Subaru Canada, I found out)
-4 (!) weeks later, they inform me that they have tested many other 2.5RS in addition to mine and they all have the same "low idle" behaviour during the 1st 10 minutes of starting the car. None of the cars stalled during their testing, however.
-They acknowledged that the low idle condition is not "normal" and have sent the test data/information to the Engineering group at Subaru (Japan I guess).
-There will likely be a Engine Management Firmware updated some weeks down the road.
-After a lengthy conversation with the Director of Quality Assurance at Subaru Canada, he agreed to replace the vehicle.

Took some effort, but in the end Subaru stepped up to make things right.

You must have been one heck of a squeaky wheel.

One guy in Edmonton had his engine seize and they just replaced the engine. I've also seen vehicles with broken frames and even then they still repair/replace the frame.

I wonder if some aftermarket tuning would have taken care of the problem?

I talked with the guys at Centaur yesterday about this RS. Told me engineers had come out and logged everything they could, but never "caught" the event.

Don't know if that's straight poop or not...

If the "event" that they're referring to is the engine stalling, then yes, as I mentioned above, the car(s) did not stall during their tests. They recorded the engine idle dropping below 500rpm (467 was the lowest of the 3 cars tested by Centaur). Apparently, Subaru Canada tested a few cars themselves and saw the same thing.

Subaru Canada sent someone (didn't say he was an engineer though) from Vancouver to log the data from my car back in the beginning of February. They sent him again in March because the software that he used in February didn't do what they wanted.
