Default Cobb STG2 w/ uppipe worth it?

Would a Stg 2 with Uppipe be virtually equal to a TBE Stg 2? Would I gain anymore performance other than slightly lower spool?

Yes, you get much better spool. But, more importantly, you get rid of that cat. W/ STG2 you are running more boost. More boost increases likelihood of busting that cat loose and trashing your turbo. IMO, everones engine mod-path w/ a 2.0L WRX should be remove/swap-ot up pipe cat, then EM, then high flow air filter, then TB. Then dyno tune...

Are you talking about adding the Uppipe INSTEAD OF the TBE or in addition to it?

First catless up pipe then EM then TBE. Time between the three depends on how much $ ya got. UP for spool, DP/TBE for power. Highly recomend some (more) search on UPs for more rational behind the mod.

And... Cobb stg2 requires a TBE. (or at least a good DP). Anything less it and it ain't stg 2

I'm talking about adding the UP. I've been running Stg. 2 for a few months now...and have had an uppipe sitting in my living room for just about as long. Time to get to work.

do it. uppipe will do so much, plus, it wont blow up and fragment into your turbine like it did mine. believe me thats alittle more work than just changing the uppipe.

Yeah, I know, I was just making sure he wasn't trying to go stage 2 by substituting the UP instead of the TBE.

MF-DIF, from what everyone says, swapping out the UP supposedly makes a nice difference with spool-up, plus you don't have that pre-cat waiting to meet your turbo! Been thinking about it myself...but then I'd be tempted to do the DP while I was at it and go stage 2 as well and then my wife might get word of it and she'll want to hurt me!

gotcha, yeah,

hey a tip on how to do the stage 2 without your wife knowing, is to do the TXS stealth back which is a 4 inch DP to 3 inch MP to another section that blends down to 2.5 or something like that, and then you keep your stock muffler. youll have all the power with the same muffler, then when she asks if your car seems louder, you can say somthing stupid like, "yeah i just turned off the sphetzer valve restriction, i can always turn it back on", and with any luck shell be ok with it. mean while you are running 13s and your wife is still happy.

You should never turn off the sphetzer valve restrictor, it's in the FAQ.

Yeah, but it'll be kinda difficult to explain a couple of large boxes showing up and then me spending some more time under the car (of course I could say it was a difficult oil change or something!)! I'll get the infamous "How much did it cost??!!" Or the "So, after the wheels, and springs, you're done... RIGHT??!!" Uh, yeah, sure, oh wait, I want to get... ha ha! Done- is that actually possible?

definitely not worth it.....you'll just want more power afterwards

seriously, though, it is a significant improvement.

now the question becomes WHAT upipe

I'm in the same boat with a TXS TBE and am Cobb 2. Considering either the TXS or STi upipe.
