Default Front Axels play

Hi all,

How much play should there be where the front axel connect to the tranny? When I reach in under the car and grab the front axel, I can move it in/out tranny by about 1/8 (or thereabouts) or so? Is that normal?

I crawled under the car to see it closer and it moves alond with the metal ring just inside the gear lash adjustment thinggy...

The back axels had no play at all.

Yeah, thats about right. The fronts are held in place with a spring pin (until late '04 anyway) and that's where the play comes from. The backs are held in with circular clip and it doesn't move much.
