Default How much free play should be in 05 sti clutch

when i start to press the clutch in, it is a bit looser for the first 1/4-1/2 inch of travel before meeting more resistance

its not completely loose, but i can feel a definate point in which i meet more resistance after pressing the pedal down a bit, is this normal?

You have a hydrolic clutch that is self adjusting, unless there is air in the system. The pedal has an adjustment for feel located under the dash above the pedal.

But yes what you describe is normal for almost any car.
