Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 2007 Jdm Sti 6 speed to swap into my 02 wrx. The swap was done at rt/tuning and has been pretty amazing. All we used was a 07 Sti drive shaft to mate to my stock rear. The major issue is my final drive, in 6th gear at 60-65 mph I'm turning around 3000 rpm which is pretty high and makes driving on the highway not fun at all! My question is how can I fix that? Could I replace the r160 rear with an r180 or would I need new rear axels and stuff like that? I need to figure this out asap since with school starting I will not have much time to focus on this. Thank you very much! -Thomas

Your stuck with what you have, unless you change the gearing in both your tranny and diff.

I didn't stutter. Taller tires will decrease your overall final drive and lower the RPM required to cruise at 65 (or whatever) mph.

Here, play with this:

Sorry I'm just confused why it wouldn't alter the gear ratio if i put the 07 sit rear in my car with the 07 sti trans bc wouldn't it then have the same gear ratio as an 07 sti at the point?

If you removed the whole jdm 6speed and your rear end, then swapped in a usdm 07 6speed and rear end, it would.

And it would cost you a lot.

Or you can get taller tires.

Which would cost you a little.
