Default Headlight Bulb Replacement question

So I've been reading about the Osram Silverstars and would like to get them for my 02 WRX but I'm confused about the the bulb classifications. Can somone elaborate on the "9007", "H1", and the "HB3" that's in my manual.

Which bulb number do I need to get?

TIA

i got the silverstars myself and i can tell you they are worth it. For the headlights you are going to need 9007s and for the driving lights (foglights) you need the H3s

You also need to differentiate between "Osram Silverstars" and "Sylvania Silverstars". The Osram's are the "+50%" bulbs and may not be available in 9007. The Sylvania's are the blue-coated bulbs you find at Pep Boys and Autozone. Some people consider the Sylvania's junk. I am one of them.

Another option is the Philips Vision Plus "+30%" bulbs in size 9007 for your headlights. They are a definite improvement over stock, have no light-robbing coating, and can be purchased at many KMarts for about $18 a pair.

they are foglights....driving lights is something else. they are two different patterns just FYI.

and yes repitition will teach us

Headlights
98-2001 Impreza - H4 (hi/low)
2002 - 2003 Impreza - 9007 (hi/low)
2004 - 2005 Impreza - H1 (low)/ 9005 (hi)

all models use H3's in the foglights.
