2011 WRX Prem Hatch

Default Does removing the intake silencer do any except sound

this afternoon I took my silencer off the intake (that black plastic thing inside the wheel well) and the car sounds a lot better but will it so anything else that I should be afraid of.

well, you're probably getting hotter air now since the holes for induction aren't coming from under the engine and the fender, now you just have one big induction hole right over the engine.

if i were you i'd go to home depot/lowe's and get a 2.5" pipe of ABS plastic, and a 45 degree elbow, and run that sucker straight to the hole into the passenger side fender. that'll give it a little bit colder air.

just search for DIY Ganzflow and you can get better instructions(and a bunch of useless, speculative arguments)

isn't the silencer on the flex pipe in the weird ? mark shape? from what i inspected on my 05 RS wagon is that the intake comes from two places, the one right next to the headlight that pulls air from inside the hood and the pipe that goes all the way down to where fog lights can be and gets air from there...unless there's something else in there i've blown smoke from the hole in the foglight area and it came out in the air box. just my .02 +a new sub owner . ( since last thursday lol )
