Talking Starting my Turbo Legacy conversion

Thanks to a fellow i-Club member in the LA area, I'm now officially on my way to adding a turbo motor to my, uh, I mean, my wife's '96 Legacy Outback.

I picked up a complete '93 EJ20 quad cam turbo motor, w/a IC, with direct ignition. Exhaust is complete to the turbo.

Now onto the questions:
1. Do I need to switch out the front x-member? If so, will a RHD work?
2. Where can I find a factory FI ecu, DI ecu, and wiring harness?

Thanks for the information!

Paul

I am pretty sure you will need to swap out the crossmember. I know it is required in an RS, but I vaguely remember Scoobyslack saying that it wasn't necessary in his MY96 brighton edition. The new crossmember is needed because the up-pipe routing goes right where the edge of the crossmember is. If you lucked out and have a crossmember version that doesnt have this lip, you are good to go.

Pics of the crossmembers are here . Turbo crossmember is in the lower left. You can see the tunnel for the up-pipe on the left side of the picture.

Charlie said they looked the same, but we ended up replacing the crossmember anyway. I am running on the 1.8L ECU also. The only error the car has is idler control valve, the idle fluctuates.
